A sill is aligned in the vertical direction on a laser line. The alignment of the sill in the horizontal direction is undertaken with a line set of an assembly jig. The line set includes at least two lines, for example a first line and a second line. The first line runs by a first run from the first part of the assembly jig to a third marking of the first line and from there by a second run to the second part of the assembly jig. If the lines are tightened and the marking is at one corner of the sill and the free end of the second line at the other corner of the sill, the sill is aligned in horizontal direction.

The elevator arrangement also includes a hoisting machine and traction roping that are separate from the supporting platform, which hoisting machine is in power transmission connection via the traction roping with the elevator car and with the counterweight.

A method of manufacturing an elevator includes installing a movable supporting platform and an elevator car in the elevator hoistway; taking the elevator car into use to serve passengers and/or to transport goods; removing the elevator car from use; changing the service range of the elevator car to reach higher up in the elevator hoistway by lifting the supporting platform higher up in the elevator hoistway; and taking the elevator car back into use. The elevator is reeved to include construction-time hoisting roping, which includes one or more ropes, the longitudinal power transmission capacity of which is based at least essentially on non-metallic fibers in the longitudinal direction of the rope. In the method, guide rails to be fixed with guide rail brackets can additionally be installed by the aid of an installation device. An elevator arrangement can be used to perform the method.

The number of load bearing members (34) and their associated strengths provide an initial factor of safety for the load bearing assembly (30). The initial factor of safety is selected based upon a relationship between a determined desired life of the load bearing assembly (30) and a desired retirement strength of the load bearing assembly (30) at the end of the desired life.

The database server 12 has a drawing database 9 that registers a CAD symbol for each product. A CAD symbol for each product includes: effective space information, which expresses a space to be secured for installation of the product; product name information expressing a name of the product; structure information expressing structural features (size, shape, etc.); product specification information; option data; etc. On the other hand, WWW server 11 has a symbol generation data interface 3, through which requirements specification data for an order-made product can be received from a WWW client terminal 2, and a CAD symbol of the order-made product can be taken out from the side of the WWW client terminal.
