    摘要： A method for registering printer dots in a printer having separate cartridges or print bars which create dots on paper moving therebeneath. Commands are generated to drive a paper carrier past the cartridges. Machine readable targets on the paper carrier are scanned and a processor uses signals generated by the targets for measuring the distance traveled by the carrier between detection of the first and second marks. The difference between the measured distance and the distance which yields ideal registration is used to delay (or advance) dot firing to improve registration. In another aspect, targets comprising slots oriented transverse to paper movement and at a 45.degree. angle relative to paper movement are photolithographically engraved in nozzle plates. The slots are scanned to produce information about misregistration along an axis in the direction of paper movement and along an axis transverse thereto.

    摘要： An apparatus for feeding a printing sheet in a printer, comprising a platen for supporting and feeding a printing sheet to be printed, a plurality of printing heads used for printing, in turn, colors of yellow (Y), magenta (M), cyan (C), and black (B), and arranged along the periphery of the platen, and a motor for rotating the platen via a speed reduction gear train, so that the plurality of printing heads, in turn, print the printing sheet while the printing sheet is moved by the platen. A distance between the printing heads in the sheet feeding direction is equal to a distance for which the printing sheet is moved while as second gear engaged with a first gear directly mounted on the platen is rotated by an integral number of revolutions.

    摘要： A recording apparatus includes supply and take-up reels stored in a cassette case, a print head and a carriage. An ink ribbon housed in the cassette case can be fed from the supply reel in both the forward and reverse directions guided by means of guide rollers. The print head can be movable along print paper in a direction perpendicular to the forward and reverse directions so as to press portions of the ink ribbon fed in the forward and reverse directions against the print paper so as to perform printing. The print head and the cassette case are mounted on the carriage. Thus, since printing can be performed by driving the supply reel in a single direction, a ribbon driving system can be simplified, resulting in low cost.

    摘要： A printing apparatus including a plurality of movable flexible endless belts incorporated in a plate drum which are aligned side by side, each of the endless belts being provided with spaced printing type on its outer peripheral surface and arranged side by side in at least on row within the plate drum. The endless belt has power transmitting means including an electromagnetic clutch which is coupled to a slip ring segment for feeding current to the clutch. A plurality of slip ring segments are arranged on substantially concentric circular lines. Every time each of the belts is displaced by a distance corresponding to one spacing between adjacent type, the displacement is detected as an electric pulse by a detecting means. A selected type can be brought to a specified position by the use of means for selectively determining the duration of energization of the electromagnetic clutch based on the detection effected as above. The transmitting means is driven by the electromagnetic clutch to automatically advance the endless belt by an amount required for the desired type-setting, and the electromagnetic clutch is engaged for the period of time specified by the duration determining means.

    摘要： A supplemental printer is mounted piggy-back fashion atop a conventional high speed chain printer or other form of computer output printing equipment; and prints, upon the same print-out sheet as the high speed printer, information generated by the same electronic digital computer to which the high speed printer responds. The supplemental printer is capable of printing postage or other special indicia not easily incorporated into the print symbol repertoire of the high speed printer. In order to make the supplemental printer operate rapidly enough to be compatible with electronic data processing equipment, its print impression is divided into parts printed by individual type segments, each actuated by its own individual print solenoid. In order to improve print quality and to minimize the reaction of the piggyback mounted printer due to the simultaneous firing of the print solenoids, the solenoids are fired sequentially by means of a time spread circuit including a shift register and clock oscillator. Some of the segments are equipped with solenoidactuated variable numerical print modules for the purpose of printing postage or other variable numerical information. After printing, the segments return to positions at unequal levels in order to deter ''''wiping off'''' unauthorized postage or other valuable print impressions.
