    摘要: For a slide closure 10 attached to a pouring vessel 2 which has a movable slide part 14 disposed between a bottom plate 12 and a discharge part 16, there is, in addition to a cylinder piston unit 24 acting on the slide part, which unit is dominant by way of a servocontrol block 26 by regulating arrangement 32, a vibrator 36 which is controlled by an oscillator 34. The vibrator 36 is switched into the connection between the cylinder-piston unit 24 and the movable slide part 14, and is in a position to oscillatingly drive the latter both in its closing position as well as in other positions and, indeed, in the same direction as the cylinder piston unit. A position generator 44 starts the oscillator 34 forcibly in the closed position.

    摘要: An improvement in continuous metal casting machines of the type having a pair of flexible, moving casting belts which revolve along endless paths for defining a casting region therebetween and moving side dams which revolve along with the casting belts for confining the cast strip, slab or bar laterally. The casting belts are individually supported by upper and lower carriage means. The machine is provided with sensors such as load cells for sensing the displacement forces existing between the upper and lower carriages at selected points along the path of belt travel, and for sensing the side pressures exerted upon the side dams by the cooling, solidifying metal. This sensing permits the maintenance of predetermined, desired contact pressures along the length of the solidifying metal to thereby improve the physical characteristics of the cast product. The sensor outputs may be utilized to manually adjust the pressure points or, alternatively, may be employed in an automatic feedback system for providing automatic control of the various casting parameters affecting mold contact pressures and pressure distribution.

The collection device is made up of displaceable collecting plates with separate collecting plates for each side of the strand. The collecting plates on the broad sides are each connected with part of the supporting stand, and the collecting plates provided for the narrow sides are displaceable by an adjusting device and overlap the collecting plates on the broad sides.

    摘要: An apparatus for measuring the geometry of the hollow mold compartment of continuous casting molds comprising a measuring head displaceable essentially in the direction of its lengthwise axis and having three impact or contact elements arranged at a first side of the measuring head. The impact elements form a triangle which is parallel to the lengthwise axis of the measuring head. A first measuring feeler is arranged at this first side so as to bear against the neighboring mold wall and is perpendicular to the plane of the triangle and at least one resilient impact element is arranged at a second side of the measuring head opposite the first side and produces a force-vector directed away from the triangle at a right angle. A second measuring feeler is arranged at the second side of the measuring head coaxial to the first measuring feeler and bears against the opposite wall of the hollow mold compartment. Indicator elements operatively connected with the measuring feelers indicate the position thereof.

    摘要: An electroslag melting (e.g. remelting) of metal, under a slag or fused-flux layer, is carried out in a crucible provided with a discharge neck which is received with clearance in a removable, replaceable and interchangeable continuous-ingot mold. The liquid/solid metal interface is maintained within the mold which has a liquid-free surface exposed to reducing or nonoxidizing gas pressure maintained to balance the hydrostatic pressure of the metal bath and flux layer in the melting chamber. As a consequence, the rate of flow of the metal from the melting crucible to the ingot mold is automatically controlled to equal the rate at which the ingot is withdrawn.
