摘要: A method for operating a combined casting/rolling installation: A casting machine (4) of the combined installation (2) produces a cast product (40) and a rolling mill (6, 8) of the installation (2) produces a rolled product (42a, 42b) from the cast product (40). The installation (2) has a control device (12) with a measuring unit (14) and a controller (16). The measuring unit (14) detects a rolled-product property, generates a measurement signal dependent on that property and transmits the measurement signal to the controller (16), and the controller (16) uses the measurement signal to generate a control signal for the casting machine (4) based on a control algorithm and transmits the control signal to the casting machine (4) which uses the control signal to set a casting parameter. The detected rolled-product property is a temperature profile of the rolled product (42a, 42b) in the width direction thereof and the casting parameter that is set by the casting machine (4) using the control signal is a cooling parameter of the casting machine (4).

摘要: Systems and methods are disclosed for an event detection system that captures data associated with events while a DC casting system forms an ingot, determines characteristics of the events, and improves the casting system based on the events. Example systems and methods may include initiating a casting operation using one or more pieces of equipment of a casting system including a casting apparatus; capturing sensor data associated with one or more acoustic signals captured relative to the one or more pieces of equipment performing the casting operation; comparing the sensor data with a set of acoustic profiles; determining whether a particular type of event has occurred; causing an adjustment to the casting system or to the casting operation based on whether the particular type of event has occurred; and initiating a second casting operation using the adjusted casting system or casting operation.

摘要: A twin roll casting system includes a pair of counter-rotating casting rolls, a casting roll controller is configured to adjust at least one process control setpoint for the casting rolls in response to control signals. A cast strip sensor measures at least one parameter of the cast strip. A controller receives measurement signals from the cast strip sensor provides control signals to the casting roll controller. The controller is a data-driven model comprising a database of state-input pairs; and executes the following steps at each time step: measure a state-input similarity between a new state observation and samples, assign a weight to each consequent output of samples based on the similarity measured, and sum the weighted outputs and predict an output of a new state observation. The controller is configured to provide the control signals to the casting roll controller based on the predicted output of the new state observation.

摘要: A monitoring device (6) records variables that are characteristic of operating parameters of a continuous casting mold (1) for casting a metal strand (2). The monitoring device (6) records at least some of the characteristic variables by independently performing measurements during the casting of the metal strand (2). The monitoring device (6) forms groups (G1, G2) of operating parameters and independently tests whether the operating parameters of the respective group (G1, G2) satisfy a respective predetermined stability criterion. The monitoring device (6) accepts the operating parameters into a database (12). The monitoring device (6) determines those data records (11) contained in the database (12) that coincide in their input variables with the basic operating parameters and determines admissible operating parameter ranges for supplementary operating parameters. The monitoring device (6) independently tests whether the supplementary operating parameters lie within the admissible operating parameter ranges.

A method for a direct chill casting including, after detecting a bleed out, exhausting generated gas from the casting pit at a flow volume rate that is enhanced relative to a flow volume rate prior to detecting bleed out or run out; introducing an inert gas into the casting pit; and introducing an inert fluid into a coolant feed to the casting mold.

摘要: Disclosed is an apparatus having a rotatable wheel with a planar external circumferential surface, which is flat in a direction parallel to the axis of rotation of the wheel, at least one nozzle having a nozzle opening for directing a molten metal onto the circumferential surface and a collection means for collecting solidified fibers of metal formed on the circumferential surface from the molten metal and separated from the circumferential surface by centrifugal force generated by rotation of the wheel. The nozzle has a rectangular cross-section having a width of the nozzle opening in the circumferential direction of rotation of the wheel and a length transverse to the circumferential surface of the wheel which is greater than the width. An apparatus is provided for controlling a gas pressure applied to the liquid metal and delivers it to the circumferential surface of the rotatable wheel.

摘要: An apparatus for the automatic startup of a continuous casting line, including a vessel which is connected to a tip by means of a gate, the tip feeding a casting housing. The apparatus includes a laser device which measures the level of the metal within the vessel, a level control device, which adjusts the introduction of liquid metal into the vessel, a gate actuator to control the gate for providing a barrier between the vessel and the tip, a transducer for the temperature of the metal inside the vessel, and a PLC which receives data from the temperature transducer and from the laser device to control the level control device and the gate actuator, so as to adjust the vessel metal level to ensure a correct and continuous flow of metal toward the casting cylinders, in order to avoid poor diffusion of the metal inside the tip.
