    摘要: An automatic sheet metal machining center has a frame, a work table attached immobile to it, a first carriage movable with regard to the frame, a second carriage attached to the first carriage and movable in a direction perpendicular to the path of the first carriage, and a stop pin in the frame. The stop pin is immobile in the directions of the paths of the carriages and is movable to upper and lower positions in a direction perpendicular to the plane of the work table. The position of a work piece, after having been placed on the work table, is determined in relation to the direction of the path of the second carriage, which has clamps for grasping the workpiece. The clamps are movable in the direction of the path of the second carriage and lockable thereto. According to a preprepared program, the respective positions of the clamps, with regard to the second carriage for grasping the workpiece, are automatically recognized and locked onto the second carriage with the aid of the stop pin.

    摘要: A sheet metal workpiece is held by holders as the workpiece is cut and moved relative to a device such as a shearing machine or punch press. An improved apparatus and method is provided to precisely position the sheet metal workpiece relative to the holders. This apparatus includes a first gripper assembly which is disposed at an opening in a support structure for the sheet metal workpiece. The first gripper assembly moves the workpiece to position it along a first axis. A second gripper assembly is disposed at another opening in the support structure and moves the workpiece to position it along a second axis which extends transversely to the first axis. The two gripper assemblies can be moved between extended positions projecting upwardly from the support structure and retracted positions in which the gripper assemblies are disposed within the support structure.

    摘要: This invention relates to a reciprocating feed mechanism of the kind which is suitable for feeding individual blanks between the dies of a coining press and which comprises a reciprocating slide carrying a pair of gripper arms adapted to grip and release the individual blanks. The slide and gripper arms are each operated through a separate linkage mechanism by a respective cam surface on cam means common to both linkage mechanisms, and a sliding connection is provided in the linkage mechanism, operating the gripper arms which is such as to allow reciprocation of the slide and gripper arms independently of actual operation of the gripper arms. Each of the blanks which is to be carried is picked-up by the gripper arms at a loading station where the blank lies on a horizontal support surface and is held in the correct position for gripping by the action of a vacuum pump which evacuates air from an aperture in the support surface directly beneath the blank.

    摘要: Workpiece loaders and unloaders for use as with a multi-station machining line including a series of machine tools and a workpiece conveyor therealong operative to transport workpieces for loading into the respective machine tools and to receive workpieces unloaded from the respective machine tools for transport to successive machine tools, each workpiece loader and unloader being equipped with a pair of workpiece clamps and being operative upon each 180* indexing of the clamp support structure thereof to transfer a workpiece from the conveyor to the associated machine tool and to transfer a workpiece from the associated machine tool to the conveyor. When the workpieces have been transferred as aforesaid the loader and unloader clamps are opened for chucking of the workpieces in the respective machine tools and for transport of the workpieces on the conveyor to the succeeding work stations. A characterizing feature of the present workpiece loader and unloader is its simplicity and compactness to minimize the center-to-center distance between the diametrically opposed workpiece clamps thus to minimize inertia forces. The loader and unloader herein is further characterized in that the clamps thereof are hydraulically actuated for rapid opening and closing movements with provision for cushioning such movements to reduce shock load on the equipment.

    摘要: A feed mechanism for feeding workpieces separately to a press comprising a base and a reciprocable feeding assembly. The feeding assembly embodies pusher means arranged to engage the lowermost workpiece in a stack of workpieces situated in a hopper on the base so that on reciprocation of said assembly, the pusher means pushes said lowermost workpiece forwardly to an intermediate station on the base. The feeding assembly also includes a pair of calipers adapted at their leading ends to move between open and closed positions so that in the closed position a workpiece previously deposited at said intermediate station will be gripped by the calipers and moved forwardly to the press in which it is to be deposited. Means are provided to open the calipers when the feeding assembly is at the end of its forward stroke in order that the workpiece carried by the calipers will be dropped into the press. The feeding assembly then returns to its rearward position so that the calipers can again pick up from said intermediate station another workpiece deposited there by said pusher means on the previous stroke of the feeding assembly.

    摘要: A feeding device comprising a carrier which is to be loaded with a workpiece and which has a fixed arm and a movable arm, the movable arm being provided with means to urge it towards the fixed arm and a notch being formed between the two arms to receive the workpiece in a particular orientation, and a loading device being provided to load the workpiece into the notch in this particular orientation. The loading device preferably comprises a pusher member which is movable towards the opening of the notch and a guide member which is movable along a line transverse to the direction of movement of the pusher member in the plane of the notch, the guide member being displaced by the workpiece as it is pushed into the notch and in turn acting to press the workpieces against a fixed shoulder. Where the feeding device is to handle regular-polygonal blanks the guide shoulder is preferably straight, and edges at the ends of the pusher member, the guide member and the movable arm are inclined to the guide shoulder so as to engage sides of each blank and to orientate the blank by urging one side against the guide shoulder as it is loaded into the notch. This carrier may possess several notches and may move relative to the loading device to align each notch in turn with the loading device so that it can be loaded. The carrier may be in the form of a rotary, index plate assembly in use in a coining press.
