    摘要: Systems and methods related to a synchronization signal particularly well suited for wireless devices in an extended coverage area of a cell of a cellular communications network are disclosed. In one embodiment, a base station transmits a synchronization signal including multiple repetitions of a basic synchronization block during a coherence time of a downlink channel over which the synchronization signal is transmitted. The multiple repetitions of the basic synchronization block during the coherence time enable coherent combining during detection of the synchronization signal at wireless devices located in the cellular communications network. This coherent combining enables, for example, wireless devices located in an extended coverage area of a cell served by the base station to synchronize to the cell using a shorter synchronization signal than that which would be required if only non-coherent combining were used.

    摘要: A method and apparatus in a base station serving a first cell in a cellular network, for supporting radio resource management, RRM, in the cellular network. The base station obtains measurements (M) of signals transmitted in the first cell and of signals transmitted in at least one neighbouring cell and determines a cell isolation factor of the first cell, based on the obtained measurements, the cell isolation factor indicating insusceptibility to interference from signals transmitted in the neighbouring cell(s). The determined cell isolation factor is then used to support RRM for terminals in the network, e.g. as a basis for determining whether to employ an RRM scheme or not. Thereby, it is possible to decide to employ the RRM scheme for cells where it is effective and helpful and not in other cells.

    摘要: The dynamic determination of a handover trigger for triggering handover of a mobile terminal in a wireless network from a source base station to a target base station is based on one or more Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Each KPI indicates a quality of wireless services provided by the wireless network responsive to a particular handover trigger. If an obtained parameter that indirectly or directly impacts handover performance passes a corresponding performance test, the mobile terminal selects the handover trigger based on the KPIs. If the parameter fails the corresponding performance test, the source base station selects the handover trigger based on the KPIs.

    摘要: Systems and methods are disclosed for providing optimized handover decisions for mobile devices participating in streaming services. In one embodiment, a serving base station in a cellular communications network obtains a play out buffer size for a streaming service of a mobile device. The serving base station then makes a handover decision based on the play out buffer size for the streaming service of the mobile device. In one embodiment, the streaming service is a downlink streaming service to the mobile device, and the play out buffer size is a size of a downlink play out buffer at the serving base station for the downlink streaming service to the mobile device. In another embodiment, the streaming service is an uplink streaming service from the mobile device, and the play out buffer size is a size of an uplink play out buffer at the mobile device for the uplink streaming service.

The disclosure provides for a method in a wireless device, of selecting random access resources for performing a random access procedure to a wireless network. The method comprises the step receiving information from a radio network node comprised in a cell of the wireless network, wherein the received information indicates at least a first and a second random access resource having different resource sizes. The method further comprises selecting one of said at least first and a second random access resources based on an expected uplink power received by the radio network node and transmitting a random access message to said wireless network using the selected resource. In one embodiment, a network node of the cellular communications network identifies candidate device-anchor base stations, where the candidate device-anchor base stations are wireless devices that satisfy one or more predefined criteria for serving as a candidate device-anchor base station. The network node then effects selection of a device-anchor base station for a wireless device from the candidate device-anchor base stations such that communication between a serving base station of the wireless device and the wireless device is via the device-anchor base station. In this manner, communication between the wireless device and the serving base station of the wireless device is assisted by the device-anchor base station.
