Abstract: A gesture-based wake process for an AR system is described herein. The AR system places a hand-tracking input pipeline of the AR system in a suspended mode. A camera component of the hand-tracking input pipeline detects a possible visual wake command being made by a user of the AR system. On the basis of detecting the possible visual wake command, the AR system wakes the hand-tracking input pipeline and places the camera component in a fully operational mode. If the AR system, using the hand-tracking input pipeline, verifies the possible visual wake command as an actual wake command, the AR system initiates execution of an AR application.

Abstract: Systems and methods for device handshaking are described. Embodiments for client device and associated wearable device initiated handshaking are described. In certain embodiments, a device such as wearable camera eyeglasses having both high-speed wireless circuitry and low-power wireless circuitry communicates with a client device. The low-power wireless circuitry is used for signaling and to manage power on handshaking for the high-speed circuitry in order to reduce power consumption. An analysis of a high-speed connection status may be performed by a client device, and used to conserve power at the glasses with signaling from the client device to indicate when the high-speed circuitry of the glasses should be powered on.

Abstract: In a camera-enabled electronic device, photo capture is triggered by a press-and-hold input only if the holding duration of the press-and-hold input is greater than a predefined threshold duration. A press-and-hold input shorter in duration than the threshold triggers video capture. Thus, a short press triggers video capture, while a long press triggers photo capture.

Abstract: An eyewear device automatically provides an indication of photo capture by, substantially simultaneously with the capturing of a photo by a camera incorporated in the eyewear device, momentarily changing an optical characteristic of a pair of lenses forming part of the eyewear device. The photo capture indication can be by momentarily decreasing transparency of the pair of lenses such as more or less to mimic the visual effect observed in the viewfinder of an SLR camera during image capture.

Abstract: A system and method for receiving a user interaction with a user interface of a client device, determining a current communication mode and a desired communication mode, where the desired communication mode is determined based on the user interaction received by the sensor module. The system further sets the desired communication mode as the current communication mode, and causes presentation of a user interface of the client device based on the desired communication mode being set as the current communication mode.

Abstract: An electronics-enabled eyewear device includes a mode indicator comprising a series of light emitters arranged on a forward-facing surface of the eyewear device, for example being provided by a ring of LEDs arranged peripherally about a camera lens opening in a front surface of an eyewear frame. The mode indicator automatically displays different visual indications corresponding to different modes of operation or states of the eyewear device. One visual indication provides an animated pattern of circulating LEDs during video capture by the eyewear device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for displaying a first portion of a video, the first portion comprising a subset of the video that fits in a display area of a computing device. The systems and methods further detect movement of the computing device during playback of the first portion of the video, calculate a rotation of the display of the first portion of the video based on a direction of the movement, and cause the display of the first portion of the video to rotate relative to the direction of movement to display a second portion of the video, the second portion comprising a subset of the video that is associated with the direction of movement and that was at least partially not visible in the first portion of the video when displayed in the display area of the computing device.
