摘要: Disclosed is a novel photo-responsive liquid crystal composition in which an oriented state of a liquid crystalline compound is capable of being controlled by an irradiation of light. The photo-responsive liquid crystal composition is composed of a liquid crystalline compound and a gelling agent mixed with the liquid crystalline compound to form a gelling mixture, wherein the liquid crystalline compound is capable of being controlled in a state orientated in one direction by the irradiation of light. In the photo-responsive liquid crystal composition, the liquid crystalline compound is oriented in a direction parallel to the direction of the irradiation of light. In the photo-responsive liquid crystal composition, the gelling agent is formed of a compound having an azobenzene structural part and a specific skeletal structure.

摘要: A printer, which is connected to a host computer, comprises a synchronizing signal output section for outputting a synchronizing signal to the host computer, a data detection section for detecting print data received from the host computer by using a sampling signal, and a print processing execution section for performing print processing based on the detected print data, wherein the sampling signal has a frequency higher than the synchronizing signal has. Upon detection of a change command for changing the clock rate of the synchronizing signal from the host computer, the printer may give a signal to the host computer for instructing the host computer to stop transmitting data and change the synchronizing signal into the clock rate specified in the change command. Upon completion of changing the clock rate of the synchronizing signal, the printer may output a signal to the host computer for instructing the host computer to restart transmitting data. A count value is counted by a timer in sequence and each time the expiration of the counting is reached, a data output command signal may be output to a data transmission section and data of a predetermined length may be transmitted from the data transmission section to the host computer.

摘要: A method for injection molding a metallic material is disclosed in which an injecting material comprised of a half-solidified metallic material and a molten metallic material is injected into a cavity of a die from an injection cylinder through a gate thereof. A non-product portion remaining at the gate of the die is separated from a product portion while it is still hot. The separated high-temperature non-product portion is press-formed into a billet in the injection cylinder. Utilization of heat from the injecting material in melting the high-temperature billet enables reuse of the non-product portion remained at the gate and reduction of heat energy required in melting the billet.

摘要: The object of the present invention is to provide an optical module for a WDM communication system, in which the oscillation wavelength is on the grid of the WDM regulation. The optical output power and the oscillation wavelength can be controlled independently. The present module includes a semiconductor light-emitting device, a wedge shaped etalon device and two light-receiving devices. The etalon contains a second portion, on which anti-reflection films are coated, and a first portion. One of the receiving devices detects light transmitted through the second portion of the etalon, while the other device detects light through the first portion. A signal from the former device controls the output power of the light-emitting device, while a signal from the latter receiving device controls the oscillation wavelength of the laser.

The trunk line bandwidth reservation system includes a data storage for storing reservation data, a bandwidth reservation part for registering a reservation datum which includes at least a time zone and a reserved bandwidth to be used by a reserved communication into the data storage in response to a reservation request which includes the reservation datum and is generated from a first terminal before the time zone, where the time zone starts from a reserved start time, and a bandwidth assignment part for assigning the reserved bandwidth to the first terminal in response to a connect request which is generated from the first terminal at the reserved start time, and for assigning an available bandwidth to a second terminal in response to a connect request which is generated from the second terminal by judging the available bandwidth based on a bandwidth which is presently in use and the reserved bandwidth which is secured by the reservation datum. The second terminal is other than the first terminal and generates the connect request which is no associated with a reservation request.
