    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a pre-5th-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates Beyond 4th-Generation (4G) communication system such as long term evolution (LTE). According to various embodiments of the disclosure, a method for operating a base station in a wireless communication system includes receiving, from a terminal, information on a residence time of the terminal and a transmission time of an uplink frame, determining a radio access network residence time based on the transmission time of the uplink frame, and transmitting the radio access network residence time and the residence time of the terminal to a user plane function (UPF).

The present disclosure relates to a session management method through selection of a roaming operator and utilization of data usage rights of a local operator by a user in a 5G system. The user selects the local operator by switching the operator to a manual mode during roaming, accesses a data usage rights purchase agency through a limited service provided by the operator and then purchases the data usage rights of the local operator, and connects to a data network through authentication of a session by using authentication information included in the data usage rights.

The disclosure relates to authentication and authorization for edge computing applications, and an operation method of a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system. The method may include transmitting, to a server, a first message including at least one of information related to the UE or a type of user agent, performing an authentication procedure for an edge computing service according to an authentication method determined based on the first message, receiving a second message indicating authority granted to the edge computing service, based on an authentication code generated by the server according to the performed authentication procedure, and using the edge computing service in a range corresponding to the granted authority.

Embodiments herein achieve a method for authenticating access in a mobile wireless network system. The method includes receiving by an Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) authenticator an EAP packet encapsulated from an access terminal over a high rate packet data radio link and a signaling interface through a radio access network. The EAP packet is encapsulated over at least one of a Non-Access Stratum (NAS) interface, a Radio Resource Control (RRC) interface and a N1 interface. The EAP authenticator is located at a secured node in a core network of the radio access network. Further, the method includes authenticating by the EAP authenticator at least one of a network access subscription and a service of the access terminal.
