Abstract: A method for gaming. The method includes assigning a default game play profile to a user, wherein the default game play profile includes a default game play style that simulates human game play, and wherein the default game play profile is configured to control game play for the user based on the default game play style. The method includes monitoring a plurality of game plays of the user playing a plurality of gaming applications. The method includes generating a user game play profile of the user by adjusting the default game play style based on the plurality of game plays, wherein the user game play profile incudes a user game play style customized to the user. The method includes controlling an instance of a first gaming application based on the user game play style of the user game play profile.

Abstract: A projection system projects images onto a projection surface in, for example, a computer game head-mounted display (HMD). The light is projected through a spatial light modulator that is combined with a Freeform Fourier Lens that is a combination of a Fresnel lens, an X-phase grating, a Y-phase grating, and a radial grating. The freeform lens causes the gradual shrinking of portions of the laser-projected image, decreasing the perceived pixel pitch in at least one foveal area on the projection surface compared to a non-modulated laser image. The center positions of the Fresnel lens and radial grating can be changed in the X and Y axes, moving the condensed foveal areas in accordance with eye tracking of the user. In effect, the system projects a Foveated image that contains variable pixel pitch such that a user perceives a higher visual acuity in his gaze direction.

Abstract: To derive three dimensional (3D) position and orientation of a 3-axis (or more) magnetometer/accelerometer device (such as may be implemented in VR or AR headset or computer game controller) without line of sight constraints, a spinning magnetic field is used to discriminate and remove the external (Earth's) magnetic field from the spinning magnetic field. This reduces the problem to finding the distance to the source of the magnetic field using a calibration table (or formula), finding two angles describing the deviation of the magnetic sensor from the axis of rotation of the spinning magnetic field and the phase around this axis, and from these values deriving the orientation of the sensor.

Abstract: Generally, techniques related to an optical computer system and use thereof are described. In an example, an optical computer system includes a multi-purpose optical device, an imager, and an image sensor. The multi-purpose optical device is configured for different purposes, such as for data storage and for compute operations. The configuration utilizes diffractive optical layers that include different diffraction elements. The imager displays an image to the multi-purpose optical device. The image encodes command-related data depending on the purpose to be invoked, such a data location for a data read or input for a compute command. Light of the image travels to the multi-purpose device and is diffracted from the diffractive optical layers. The diffracted light is detected by the image sensor that converts it into an output.

Abstract: A holographic film is encoded on a pixel-by-pixel basis by sequentially irradiating each pixel using a movable laser that directs light against a suitable object that in turn deflects the light toward the film. The film can then be used as a display for playing back demanded images using a laser or in some cases LEDs to irradiate each pixel on a pixel-by-pixel basis according to the demanded image.

Abstract: A method for assisting game play. The method includes monitoring game play of the user playing a gaming application, wherein the user has a defined task to accomplish, wherein the task is associated with a task type. The method includes determining a task type proficiency rule for the task type based on results of a plurality of players taking on a plurality of tasks having the task type. The method includes determining a player proficiency score for accomplishing the task based on the task type proficiency rule. The method includes determining a user predictive rate of success in accomplishing the task based on the player proficiency score, the task type proficiency rule, and the task. The method includes determining a recommendation for the user based on the user predictive rate of success.

Abstract: An emitter laser illuminates multiple reflectors each of which produces a unique robust code, with the laser being sequentially moved between illuminating successive reflectors. The reflectors send light to a holographic film, and the laser poses can be associated with the respective codes. Subsequently, an illuminator such as another laser can illuminate the film, and a sensor positioned near the film records what code is produced, so that the code can be correlated to a laser pose with respect to the film and sensor.
