Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a user equipment (UE) may transmit, to a base station, a UE capability message indicating support for at least a first demodulation mode or a second demodulation mode. The first demodulation mode may correspond to a single demodulation procedure associated with a set of antenna ports at the UE, and the second demodulation mode may correspond to multiple demodulation procedures, each procedure associated with a respective subset of antenna ports at the UE. In some cases, the UE may flexibly switch between demodulation modes. The UE may receive, from the base station, one or more downlink signals via one or more downlink beams based on the indication of the first demodulation mode or the second demodulation mode. The UE may demodulate the one or more downlink signals based on the indicated (e.g., an active) demodulation mode.

Abstract: Aspects relate to sounding on a subset of available sounding resources. A user equipment (UE) may transmit a sounding reference signal (SRS) on a subset of the frequency resources available for a hop of an SRS hopping sequence. A UE may be configured to use a subset of frequency resources or the UE may autonomously identify this subset. A base station may send a bit map to a UE to indicate the subset of resources to use for a hop. Each bit of the bit map may indicate that the UE is to transmit an SRS on a particular RB or on a particular groups of RBs. The same subset of resources may be designated for each hop or different subsets of resources may be designated for different hops. An indication of the subset of resources may be provided for each hop. The subset of resources may be cycled for different hops.

Abstract: Aspects relate to wireless communication for slot postponing of aperiodic sound reference signals (A-SRS) by a user equipment in a wireless network. A network node, such as a gNodeB, may send at least a portion of a slot postponing configuration for transmission of aperiodic sounding reference signals (A-SRSs) to a user equipment (UE). In a particular aspect, the slot postponing configuration is established through RRC signaling and does not utilize downlink control information (DCI) or MAC-CE sent parameters for establishing the slot postponing configuration. The slot positioning configuration is used to control slot offset postponing, the number of slot offsets, the number of times transmission of A-SRS can be postponed in the UE, and priority rules based on the postponing configuration.

A user equipment (UE) may use cover coding for sounding reference signal (SRS) resources for performing antenna switching. The UE may receive a configuration for a reference signal resource set for transmitting a reference signal for antenna switching, the configuration including an indication of a type of time division cover coding for repetitions of the reference signal and an indication of a type of frequency hopping. The UE may determine a reference signal resource for transmission of the reference signal based on the configuration and the type of frequency hopping. The UE may then transmit a set of repetitions of the reference signal over the determined reference signal resource according to the type of time division cover coding.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described to indicate a single frequency network (SFN) mode and associated composite channel reference signals to a user equipment (UE). A UE and a base station may communicate via two or more transmission and reception points (TRPs) using an SFN transmission, which may represent a transmission having multiple beam configurations. The base station may transmit a configuration associated with a control channel that explicitly or implicitly indicates whether control channel transmissions are associated with an SFN mode or are configured with multiple candidate beam configurations. The base station may transmit an indication of activated beam configurations for the control channel. The UE may receive one or more reference signals from each TRP and, based on the SFN indication, may use information from the one or more reference signals to receive the control channel transmission.

In some aspects, a user equipment may receive, from abase station, a sounding reference signal (SRS) configuration indicating a number of candidate slots for transmission of a multi-slot aperiodic SRS (A-SRS); receive, from the base station, an SRS trigger, the SRS trigger comprising an indication of an A-SRS resource set, the A-SRS resource set comprising a plurality of A-SRS resources corresponding to the number of candidate slots; and transmit, in response to the SRS trigger, the multi-slot A-SRS in one or more of a plurality of candidate slots using at least a portion of the A-SRS resource set. Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for transmitting sounding reference signal (SRS) resources with frequency hopping. In some implementations, a user equipment (UE) may use different SRS ports, different antenna ports, different numbers and sizes of SRS resources, different periodicities, different offsets, different transmission comb values, different number of symbols, different power control parameters, and/or different transmission comb offset values for SRS transmissions on different frequency subbands of the frequency hopping pattern to ensure that sounding operations cover all antennas of the UE, cover the entire frequency range of interest, and provide sufficiently dense SRS transmissions from which a base station can determine the best channel for DL transmissions while also using a minimum amount of SRS resources and consuming minimal power in the UE.
