Abstract:
Systems and methods are presented for discovering a local location server associated with a local provider based on a relationship between the local provider and another regional/global provider. A mobile device discovers the local provider and queries a home location server which returns the address of a regional/global location server associated with the regional/global provider. A mobile device then queries the regional/global location server to discover the local location server and may then access the local location server to obtain location services. The method may be employed with the OMA SUPL location solution wherein the home location server may be an H-SLP and the local and regional/global location servers may be D-SLPs.
Abstract:
Techniques for configuring a Home evolved Node B (HeNB) in a location server and positioning the HeNB are disclosed. In one aspect, location for a HeNB is supported based on LTE Positioning Protocol (LPP) messages. The HeNB communicates LPP messages with a location server. These LPP messages are terminated at the HeNB instead of a UE. At least one location transaction for the HeNB can be performed to configure in the location server and/or locate the HeNB based on the LPP messages. In another aspect, location for a HeNB is supported based on an embedded UE in the HeNB. The HeNB establishes a location session with a location server based on an embedded UE ID, which is assigned to the HeNB and recognized by the location server as being for a HeNB instead of a UE. At least one location transaction for the HeNB is performed during the location session.
Abstract:
Example methods, apparatuses, or articles of manufacture are disclosed herein that may be utilized, in whole or in part, to facilitate or support one or more operations or techniques for utilizing a reference signal for indoor positioning, such as for use in or with a mobile communication device, for example. In an implementation, a reference signal may be focused into a directed beam, for example using a phased antenna array, and rotated electronically through a sequence of directional angles in a horizontal plane. A mobile device may determine a most probable directional angle from one or more transmitters transmitting a directional beam, measure one or more parameters for each directional angle and determine a location estimate using, for example triangulation.
Abstract:
Techniques are provided which may be implemented in various methods, apparatus, and/or articles of manufacture to allow a mobile device to obtain certain location service(s) and/or the like from one or more computing devices that have been authorized for use. For example, in certain implementations, an authorizing location server may obtain a first message from a mobile device indicating a first set of location servers, determine a second set of location servers based, at least in part, on the first set of location servers, and transmit a second message to the mobile device indicating that the second set of location servers are authorized for location service related access by the mobile device.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus may receive broadcast information related to a second UE from a third UE, relay the broadcast information and identifier information to a set of UEs, determine whether each UE in the set of UEs has received the broadcast information based on whether the identifier information is received from each UE in the set of UEs, and refrain from relaying the broadcast information upon determining that each UE in the set of UEs has received the broadcast information. In another aspect, the apparatus may receive broadcast information related to a second UE and a tag associated with the broadcast information from a third UE, relay the tag without the broadcast information to a set of UEs, receive a request for broadcast information from a third UE in the set of UEs, and relay the broadcast information to the third UE. In an aspect, the first, second and third UEs may be the same UE. In another aspect, the second and third UEs but not the first UE may be the same UE.
Abstract:
Example methods, apparatuses, or articles of manufacture are disclosed herein that may be utilized, in whole or in part, to facilitate or support one or more operations or techniques for enabling control of privacy for crowdsourcing, such as for use in or with a mobile communication device within an indoor or like environment. In certain embodiments, control of privacy may be enabled by designating by a server certain sources of crowdsourcing such as WiFi or Bluetooth® APs as being tentative. A mobile device that encounters a source designated as tentative may query a server for information concerning permitted and/or not permitted types of crowdsourcing for the source. The server may return an indication of the permitted level of crowdsourcing for the source which the mobile device may then use to perform, or refrain from performing, crowdsourcing.
Abstract:
Various methods, apparatuses and/or articles of manufacture are provided which may be implemented using one or more fixed electronic devices to generate a reference data report corresponding to a particular environment. Various methods, apparatuses and/or articles of manufacture are provided which may be implemented using one or more mobile electronic devices to generate an environment report corresponding to a particular environment.
Abstract:
A method, device, computer program product, and apparatus for verifying the identity (ID) of a wireless device are described. The ID and a first measurement of a trusted access point (AP) are received from the wireless device. A second measurement from the trusted AP is received, where the second measurement is of a signal comprising the ID. To verify the ID, consistency of the first and second measurements is verified.

Abstract:
A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus initiates a call attempt in an internet protocol multimedia subsystem (IMS) based on a dialed number, the dialed number including an emergency number. The apparatus receives a session initiation protocol (SIP) message in response to the call attempt. The apparatus determines in response to the SIP message whether to retry the call attempt as a normal call in a circuit-switched (CS) domain for an operator or as an emergency call in the CS domain for the operator. In an aspect, the determining is based at least in part on either an indication in the SIP message or on a characteristic of the operator.
