Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine that the UE is operating using a first subscriber identity module (SIM) in a non-standalone mode associated with a first radio access technology (RAT) and a second RAT, and that a second SIM has been activated for the UE. The UE may determine, based at least in part on user input, whether to operate in a multi-SIM mode, where both the first SIM and the second SIM are active, or to operate in a single SIM mode where only the first SIM, and not the second SIM, is active. The UE may selectively deactivate the second SIM based at least in part on determining whether to operate in the multi-SIM mode or the single SIM mode. Numerous other aspects are provided.

An example of an apparatus according to the disclosure includes a transceiver configured to detect one or more proximate devices, and at least one processor operably coupled to the transceiver and configured to receive authentication information from the user, determine that the one or more proximate devices is at least one companion device, and validate the user based on the authentication information and a detection of the at least one companion device.

Abstract: Handover criteria for wireless networks are provided. A base station (BS) transmits, to a user equipment (UE), a configuration for at least one measurement event to be used for a handover of the UE from a source cell to one of a set of neighbor cells, wherein the configuration includes at least a configured rank criterion for triggering a measurement report in response to the measurement event. The BS receives, from the UE, the measurement report based on the configuration, the measurement report at least including a measured rank value for one or more reported cells in the set. The BS selects a target cell from the reported cells for the handover based at least on the received measured rank values, and transmits a handover command to the UE for the handover to the selected target.

Abstract: Methods and techniques are described for enhancing positioning related protocols in order to indicate when one location session is different from another location session. One or more messages provided in a location session by a location server to a user equipment (UE) may include a session indication, such as a session identifier (ID), where a different session ID is provided for each location session. The session indication may be a new session indicator provided in an initial message in a location session or an end session indicator provided in a final message in a location session. An extra message may be sent by the location server indicating that the location session has ended. A correlation ID provided by a network entity to the location server may be included in messages as the session indication, e.g., where a different correlation ID is provided for each location session.

Abstract: A mobile device can send and receive signals in a dedicated frequency band and receive signals in a separate frequency band separate from the dedicated frequency band. The mobile device can send one or more frequency band compatibility combinations each including first and second frequency bands, the first frequency band being in the separate frequency band and the second frequency band being in the dedicated frequency. The mobile device can listen, based on a received neighbor list, for a first signal that has a frequency in the first frequency band and for a second signal that has a frequency in the second frequency band. The mobile device can determine, based on the first signal, ranging information indicative of a range from the mobile device to a source of the first signal, e.g., to obtain improved accuracy ranging information.
