    Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may be a UE. The UE determines a first uplink slot on an uplink carrier for reporting channel state information. The UE determines, on a downlink carrier, a first downlink slot that is an earliest downlink slot overlaps with the first uplink slot. The UE determines a number M based on a numerology of the downlink carrier, M being an integer greater than or equal to 0. The UE measures a reference signal, received no later than a second downlink slot that is a latest valid downlink slot no later than M downlink slots prior to the first downlink slot, to generate the channel state information.

    Abstract: A new design for physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) is proposed for the next generation 5G new radio systems. A UE receives the configuration of a default control resource set (CORESET) in MIB/SIB from its serving base station. The default CORESET contains both common search space and UE-specific search space for candidate PDCCH transmission. A PDCCH in a default CORESET is mapped to physical resource in a distributed or localized manner. Specifically, various REG-to-CCE mapping rules are proposed to improve frequency diversity gain, or frequency selectivity gain, or to reduce latency of PDCCH processing. Further, to facilitate analog beamforming in mmWave systems, the default CORESET is transmitted in a synchronization signal (SS) block associated with a corresponding analog beam direction.

    Abstract: A method to improve the design of new radio physical downlink control channel (NR-PDCCH) transmission and to reduce the false alarm rate of NR-PDCCH blind decoding is proposed. The downlink control information (DCI) bits are carried by NR-PDCCH to be transmitted to UEs after CRC attachment, channel encoding, interleaving, and modulation. The proposed NR-PDCCH design is separated into two parts. In a first part, a UE-ID or RNTI is used to derive a CRC mask or a scrambling sequence for CRC attachment of the DCI bits. In a second part, a UE-specific ID is used to derive an interleaver before or after channel encoding of the DCI bits. If the interleaver is placed before channel encoding, it takes the form of a bit interleaver. If the interleaver is placed after channel encoding, it takes the form of a bit interleaver or a channel interleaver.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for control overhead reduction. The UE configures one or more short transmission time interval regions over a normal TTI region shared by the UE and one or more other, each UE includes a self-contained control information sPDCCH occupying a control information region. The UE detects a cover signal, which indicates one or more resource elements in the sPDCCH control-information region that can be used for data transmission. The UE obtains data transmission from the REs in the SPDCCH control information region based on the detected cover signal. In one embodiment, the cover signal is a dedicated signal. In another embodiment, the cover signal is a common signal. In yet another embodiment, the cover signal is encoded in a downlink control information (DCI) intended for the UE. In one embodiment, the cover signal indicates one or more CCE REs to be excluded for data transmission.

    Abstract: A method of default uplink beam determination after radio resource control (RRC) connection reestablishment in a beamforming system is proposed. For uplink (UL) transmission, the BS provides dedicated physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) resource configuration to UE. The configuration includes spatial relation information that indicates the spatial domain transmission filter to be used by UE for the corresponding PUCCH transmission. After RRC connection re-establishment and before a dedicated PUCCH configuration is received, a default UE TX beam can be determined based on the UE TX beam used during the RRC connection re-establishment procedure, e.g., the UE TX beam used to transmit MSG3 in a four-step random-access channel (RACH) procedure triggered by the RRC connection re-establishment procedure.

    Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for improved Licensed Assisted Access (LAA) networks. A LAA subframe is received via an unlicensed frequency band. Control information is communicated via predetermined symbol locations within the LAA subframe. An indication of a first and a second symbol locations is received. A LAA subframe is then received. It is determined if control information is present at the first or second symbol locations within the received LAA subframe. Demodulation parameters based on the control information are determined. The LAA subframe is demodulated using the demodulation parameters. An indication of a transmission duration is communicated to a UE. The transmission duration is determined based on the LAA subframe. A type of subframe is determined based on transmission duration. Automatic Gain Control (AGC) protection is provided in a LAA subframe. The AGC protection LLA subframe does not communicate control information in a symbol adjacent to a reservation signal.

    Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided using interleaved frequency division multiple access (IFDMA)-based beam management reference signal for TX and RX beam sweeping. In one novel aspect, a set of IFDMA-based BM RS for TX and RX beam sweeping is configured by decomposing a defined reference numerology into N equal-length sub-time units such that the TX and RX beams can switch across sub-time unit boundary. In another novel aspect, a set of IFDMA-based beam management RS for TX and RX beams are configured by concatenating a plurality of IFDMA signals each defined over a corresponding numerology, wherein at least two IFDMA signals have different numerologies. TX and RX beam sweeping are performed based on corresponding TX and RX beam switching points. In another embodiment, the RS is a channel state information RS for a downlink measurement and a sounding reference signal for an uplink measurement.
