Abstract: A data transmission method and apparatus. The method includes: a source access network device that receives an end marker from a core network device through a transmission tunnel of a PDU session of a first terminal device, where the PDU session is associated with a first multicast/broadcast service; and in response to the end marker, the source access network device determines, based on the association between the PDU session and the first multicast/broadcast service, that the end marker acts on the first multicast/broadcast service of the first terminal device, to stop sending data of the first multicast/broadcast service to a target access network device through a forwarding tunnel of the first terminal device.

Abstract: Example communication methods and apparatus are described. One example method includes determining a first encapsulation identifier corresponding to an Ethernet session by a control plane network element and sending the first encapsulation identifier corresponding to the Ethernet session to a user plane network element, where the first encapsulation identifier is used to instruct the user plane network element to process a data packet corresponding to the Ethernet session based on the first encapsulation identifier. The terminal device determines the first encapsulation identifier corresponding to the Ethernet session and encapsulates an uplink data packet based on the first encapsulation identifier, where the uplink data packet is a data packet triggered by an application program bound to the Ethernet session. The encapsulated data packet is mapped to the Ethernet session corresponding to the first encapsulation identifier for transmission based on the first encapsulation identifier.

Abstract: This application discloses a session management method, a network device, and a communications system. According to embodiments of the present invention, an intermediate session management entity is selected based on UE location information and PDU session requirement information. In this way, an intermediate session management entity near UE can provide a service for a PDU session, and a delay of data transmission is reduced. In addition, the intermediate session management entity selects a user plane entity based on the UE location information and the PDU requirement information, and the intermediate session management entity is responsible for managing user plane entities within a specified area, and does not need to manage user plane entities in the entire PDU session, thereby reducing management complexity.

Abstract: The present invention discloses an evolved multimedia broadcast/multicast service (eMBMS) processing network element and an evolved multimedia broadcast/multicast service broadcast method. The eMBMS processing network element includes a first transceiver and a first processor. The first transceiver receives an eMBMS bearer application request from an application server. The eMBMS bearer application request includes a broadcast area. The first transceiver sends the broadcast area to a configuration service center, and receives multimedia broadcast/multicast service service area (MBMS SA) configuration information returned by the configuration service center according to the broadcast area. The first processor establishes an eMBMS session resource of the broadcast area according to the MBMS SA configuration information. In the foregoing manner, the present invention can resolve a problem that a broadcast area cannot be dynamically generated under an eMBMS broadcast mechanism.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a congestion/overload control method and apparatus. The method includes: learning, by a gateway device, information about network access time of a User Equipment (UE) or UE group; and rejecting or discarding, by the gateway device, session management request messages of the UE or UEs in the UE group beyond the network access time of the UE or UE group; or discarding, by the gateway device, data of the UE or the UEs in the UE group beyond the network access time of the UE or UE group. Embodiments of the present invention can perform congestion/overload control differentially on the UE or UEs in the group, implement congestion/overload control on the gateway device, avoid congestion/overload caused by a large number of UEs on the gateway device, and improve the efficiency of congestion/overload control.
