Abstract:
A humeral fracture fixation system is provided and includes a nail-plate fixation device having a plate-like head portion, an intramedullary nail portion, and a bent neck portion therebetween which creates an angle between the plate and nail portions. The upper surface of the nail portion is substantially straight for contact with the endosteum and the nail portion includes threaded holes for machine screws. The head portion includes locking holes for receiving fixed-angle bone support elements, and K-wire alignment holes. The front of the head portion includes suture holes while presenting a smooth profile. A specific implantation jig and screw guide cannula are also provided.
Abstract:
A bone plating system includes a plate, fixed angle and variable angle bone screws, and corresponding set screws for each type of the bone screws. The plate includes common openings adapted to receive the variable and fixed angle bone screws, both of which can be locked relative to the plate with the set screws. In all modes of use, a set screw, sometimes in combination with a sliding washer, is then used to fix the level of compression and prevent loosening. In one mode of use, a bone screw can also be driven to cause displacement of the plate such that pressure is applied to maintain bone parts together about a fracture in tight engagement.
Abstract:
Protecting computer networks by altering unwanted network data traffic. An Intrusion Protection System (IPS) or an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) can monitor network data traffic comprising byte information. This network security device analyzes network data traffic at the byte level to determine whether an intrusion event is present in the network data traffic. If an intrusion event is detected, the network security device alters at least a portion of the relevant byte information to prevent the occurrence of a successful intrusion event at the intended destination. This altered byte information is then passed to the destination by the network security device. If an intrusion event is not present, the network security device passes the byte information without alteration to the destination.
Abstract:
What is disclosed herein deals with low to medium pressure, high temperature, all ceramic, air-to-air, indirect heat exchangers, novel ball joints, high load-bearing ceramic tube sheets, and tube seal extenders for ceramic tubes that are useful in such heat exchangers. Also disclosed are new and novel systems used in new and novel industrial processes such as chemical processing, sludge destruction and the production of particulates such as, for example, carbon black. Systems utilizing several heat exchangers are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing sheet form insulation products from an aqueous slurry containing calcium silicate comprises the steps of pumping the slurry into a closed mould cavity in a platen filter press, at least one wall of the mould cavity being foraminous to an extent sufficient to allow the escape substantially only of fluid, stopping the pumping at a predetermined level of back pressure in the mould cavity, followed by closing the press to reduce at least one dimension of the mould cavity a prechosen amount.
Abstract:
The invention provides an apparatus for manufacturing lengths of tubular fibrous pipe insulation, the improvement comprising the provision for an abrasive treatment apparatus comprising conveyor means operable to receive such lengths mounted on their respective forming mandrels after setting the binder and to forward said lengths on said mandrels to an abrasive treatment station, an abrading member at said station to abrade the outer surface of said lengths and a member to rotate a length, on its mandrel, in contact with said abrading member while maintaining a controlled spacing between the mandrel and the abrading member.
Abstract:
A method of resolving a domain name that includes a non-LDH character, involves a client computer receiving a domain name update notification for a first computer server that has a LDH domain name comprising at least one character but excluding non-LDH characters. In response, the client computer downloads a configuration payload from a registration server that maintains an association between the first computer server and a second computer server. The configuration payload links the first computer server to a non-LDH domain name associated with the second computer server and configures the client computer to determine an identification of the second computer server from the first LDH domain name. The non-LDH domain name has at least one non-LDH character. The client computer uses the identification of the second computer server to establish a communication session therewith while displaying the associated non-LDH domain name.

Abstract:
A sensor for measuring material properties such as the relaxation modulus of a material in situ and a method of measuring material properties of a material are disclosed. The sensor may be substantially embedded in the material, and includes a deformable driver. When actuated, the deformable driver may create a stress in the adjacent material. The movement or deformation of the driver may be measured with a sensing device, for example a strain gage mounted on a surface thereof. The stress in the adjacent material may be measured with a second sensing device, for example a pressure sensor. The measured movement and stress over a predetermined period of time may he used to determine the relaxation modulus of the material.
Abstract:
A method of dynamically controlling open hole pressure within a wellbore having a drill string positioned therein. The method comprising the steps of pumping a fluid down the drill string, into an annulus formed by the drill string and the interior of the wellbore, and then subsequently up the annulus to the surface of the ground; selectively applying wellhead pressure to the annulus through selectively pumping an additional quantity of the fluid or a quantity of a secondary fluid across the annulus; and, controlling the application of wellhead pressure applied to the annulus by controlling one, or both, of (a) the operation of a wellhead pressure control choke, and (b) the flow rate of the additional quantity of fluid or the secondary fluid pumped across the annulus, to thereby maintain open hole pressure within a desired range.
