Abstract:
The present disclosure generally relates to handwriting on touch sensitive surfaces. In some examples, text suggestions strokes entered on a touch sensitive surface are viewed and selected in response to a rotatable input mechanism. In some examples, text determined from a set of strokes on the touch sensitive surface is revised based on a subsequently entered stroke on the touch sensitive surface. In some examples, a determination is made whether to include a stroke in a set of strokes based a time between the stroke and the previous stroke. In some examples, determining text based on a set of stroke is interrupted to determined revised text based on the set of strokes and a second stroke.
Abstract:
In some embodiments, a device performs character recognition based on spatial and temporal components of touch input detected on a touch-sensitive surface. In some embodiments, a device provides feedback about handwritten input and its recognition by the device. In some embodiments, a device presents a user interface for changing previously-inputted characters.

Abstract:
While an electronic device with a display and a touch-sensitive surface is in a screen reader accessibility mode, the device displays a character input area and a keyboard, the keyboard including a plurality of key icons. The device detects a sequence of one or more gestures on the touch-sensitive surface that correspond to one or more characters. A respective gesture of the one or more gestures that corresponds to a respective character is a single finger gesture that moves across the touch-sensitive surface along a respective path that corresponds to the respective character. The respective path traverses one or more locations on the touch-sensitive surface that correspond to one or more key icons of the plurality of key icons without activating the one or more key icons. In response to detecting the respective gesture, the device enters the corresponding respective character in the character input area of the display.
Abstract:
Methods, systems, and computer-readable media related to a technique for providing handwriting input functionality on a user device. A handwriting recognition module is trained to have a repertoire comprising multiple non-overlapping scripts and capable of recognizing tens of thousands of characters using a single handwriting recognition model. The handwriting input module provides real-time, stroke-order and stroke-direction independent handwriting recognition. User interfaces for providing the handwriting input functionality are also disclosed.

Abstract:
An electronic device includes a touch-sensitive surface. The electronic device includes one or more sensors to detect intensity of contacts with the touch-sensitive surface. The device detects a first touch input on the touch-sensitive surface, and, in response to detecting the first touch input on the touch-sensitive surface, determines a first intensity applied by the first touch input on the touch-sensitive surface. The device identifies a first intensity model identifier from a plurality of predefined intensity model identifiers, and, in accordance with the first intensity applied by the first touch input on the touch-sensitive surface and one or more thresholds associated with the first intensity model identifier, determines a first touch characterization parameter. Subsequent to determining the first touch characterization parameter, the device sends first touch information to the first software application. The first touch information includes the first intensity model identifier and the first touch characterization parameter.
Abstract:
While an electronic device with a display and a touch-sensitive surface is in a screen reader accessibility mode, the device displays an application launcher screen including a plurality of application icons. A respective application icon corresponds to a respective application stored in the device. The device detects a sequence of one or more gestures on the touch-sensitive surface that correspond to one or more characters. A respective gesture that corresponds to a respective character is a single finger gesture that moves across the touch-sensitive surface along a respective path that corresponds to the respective character. The device determines whether the detected sequence of one or more gestures corresponds to a respective application icon of the plurality of application icons, and, in response to determining that the detected sequence of one or more gestures corresponds to the respective application icon, performs a predefined operation associated with the respective application icon.
Abstract:
An electronic device displays a user interface that includes a first display region and a second display region. The device detects a first intensity of a touch input at a first location on a touch-sensitive surface that corresponds to the first display region; detects a movement of the touch input to a second location on the touch-sensitive surface that corresponds to the second display region; after detecting the movement, detects a second intensity of the touch input at the second location; and, in response, in accordance with a determination that the first intensity does not satisfy a first intensity threshold, processes the second intensity using one or more intensity thresholds associated with the second display region; and, in accordance with a determination that the first intensity satisfies the first intensity threshold, processes the second intensity using one or more intensity thresholds associated with the first display region.
Abstract:
Differing embodiments of this disclosure may be employed to perform character sequence recognition with no explicit character segmentation. According to some embodiments, the character sequence recognition process may comprise generating a predicted character sequence for a first representation of a first image comprising a first plurality of pixels by: sliding a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) classifier over the first representation of the first image one pixel position at a time until reaching an extent of the first representation of the first image; recording a likelihood value for each of k potential output classes at each pixel position, wherein one of the k potential output classes comprises a background class; determining a sequence of most likely output classes at each pixel position; decoding the sequence by removing identical consecutive output class determinations and background class determinations from the determined sequence; and validating the decoded sequence using one or more predetermined heuristics.
