    Abstract: Based on at least a portion of an SS block index, a UE may scramble information and a base station may descramble the scrambled information. Specifically, a UE may determine an SS block index associated with an SS block for reception. The UE may scramble information based on at least a portion of the determined SS block index. The information may include at least one of data, control information, or a CRC associated with control information. The UE may transmit the scrambled information to a base station. A base station may receive, from the UE, information scrambled based on at least a portion of an SS block index. The scrambled information may include at least one of data or control information. The base station may descramble the scrambled information based on the at least the portion of the SS block index.

    Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus may determine a signal configuration for transmitting a tracking reference signal (TRS) to a user equipment (UE). The signal configuration may identify a subset of locations, of a set of locations included in a transmission window, that is to be used to transmit the TRS, and the signal configuration may be selected to assist the UE with one or more measurements. The apparatus may transmit, based at least in part on the signal configuration, the TRS in the subset of locations. Numerous other aspects are provided.

    Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to synchronization channel design for a new carrier type. In certain aspects, a User Equipment (UE) may first search for legacy locations of PSS (Primary Synchronization Signal) and SSS (Secondary Synchronization Signal), and attach to a cell that transmits the legacy PSS/SSS. Then the UE may be provided with information indicating a search space for PSS and SSS of a new carrier. The UE may then search for the PSS and SSS for the new carrier based on the received information. The relative spacings in time between the PSS and SSS for the first carrier may be different from the relative spacings in time between the PSS and SSS for the second carrier. In alternative aspects, the UE may receive a frequency offset value and determine PSS/SSS locations for the new carrier based on the frequency offset value and spaced center frequencies.

An exemplary method generally includes selecting, from a set of code rates, a code rate to be used to encode a stream of bits using a polar code, based on at least one of a downlink control channel aggregation size, an uplink control channel assignment, or a payload size of the stream of bits, encoding the stream of bits using the polar code and the selected code rate, and transmitting the encoded stream of bits.
