    Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for adaptive subcarrier spacing in wireless communication networks are described. For example, the described aspects include transmitting, from the UE to a network entity, a first PRACH transmission with a first subcarrier spacing; determining, by the UE, that the first PRACH transmission to the network entity is not successful; and transmitting, from the UE, a second PRACH transmission with a second subcarrier spacing in response to determining that the first PRACH transmission is not successful, wherein the first subcarrier spacing is different from the second subcarrier spacing.

    Abstract: In narrowband communication, channels may use repetitions in multiple subframes. SPS and DRX for the narrowband communication may not accommodate such repetitions, because repetitions for a channel may fall only partially within a DRX ON duration. An apparatus addresses this problem by determining a DRX ON duration, determining a set of subframes carrying a narrowband PDCCH candidate and determining that the DRX ON duration at least partially overlaps with the set of subframes of the narrowband PDCCH. The apparatus then refrains from decoding the first narrowband PDCCH candidate, decodes the first narrowband PDCCH candidate, or extends the DRX ON duration to include the set of subframes entirely and decoding the first narrowband PDCCH candidate carried in the set of subframes in the extended DRX ON duration. The apparatus may also determine DRX configuration parameters based on parameters of bundled channels, and handle invalid subframes for an SPS grant.

    Abstract: Various aspects described herein relate to techniques for random access based on scalable signature design in wireless communications systems. A method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. In an aspect, the method may include randomly choosing an array of source symbols, wherein the array has one or more scalable dimensions based on at least one of a capacity requirement or a coverage requirement of a random access channel (RACH), encoding the array of source symbols into a codeword for a RACH signature, mapping the codeword to a serial concatenation of orthogonal or quasi-orthogonal sequences to define the RACH signature, and transmitting the RACH signature within a RACH slot. The techniques described herein may apply to different communications technologies, including 5th Generation (5G) New Radio (NR) communications technology.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to a conditional utilization of reference signals for managing communications of one or more user equipment (UE) in a wireless communications system. The described aspects include receiving a transmission having a first subframe slot and a second subframe slot, at least one of the first subframe slot and the second subframe slot have a single-slot transmission time interval (TTI). The described aspects further include detecting a first demodulation reference signal (DM-RS) in the first subframe slot and a second DM-RS in the second subframe slot. The described aspects further include determining whether to demodulate the at least one downlink channel in the first subframe slot using the first DM-RS in the first subframe slot or to demodulate both the first DM-RS in the first subframe slot and the second DM-RS in the second subframe slot based on whether at least one condition exists.

In some cases, one sequence, from a plurality of sequences, may be transmitted in multiple tones of at least one short burst symbol conveying at least one bit of information. The plurality of sequences may have the same values at a first set of common tone locations for demodulation reference signals (DMRS) and groups of sequences from the plurality of sequences may be identified, each sequence in a group having a second set of common tone locations for DMRS.
