Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for increasing the chances that a high reliability packet scheduled to be transmitted in a shared radio frequency spectrum is received by a receiving device. In one example, a wireless device (e.g., a base station or a user equipment (UE)) may duplicate a packet at a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) layer for transmission on multiple listen before talk (LBT) subchannels of a carrier to improve reliability. In another example, a wireless device may duplicate a packet at a physical (PHY) layer for transmission on multiple LBT subchannels of a carrier to improve reliability, or the wireless device may encode and map the packet to multiple LBT subchannels of a carrier for transmission on the multiple LBT subchannels to improve reliability.

Abstract: Aspects are provided that allow a base station to provide a user equipment (UE) multiple timing opportunities to transmit an acknowledgment to a pre-grant (APG) after receiving a pre-grant for a downlink transmission. The base station transmits to the UE a pre-grant for a downlink transmission from the base station, the pre-grant triggering a plurality of timing opportunities for the UE to send an APG to the base station. The UE performs, after receiving the pre-grant, a clear channel assessment (CCA) during at least one timing opportunity of the plurality of timing opportunities. The UE transmits one or more APGs to the base station when the CCA is successful, and the UE receives the downlink transmission from the base station in response to the one or more APGs. The UE transmits the one or more APGs to the base station until the downlink transmission is received from the base station.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a transmitting device using shared radio frequency spectrum may perform a listen before talk (LBT) procedure for at least a minimum dwell time and, upon successful completion of the LBT procedure, may occupy the spectrum for up to a duration of a channel occupancy time (COT). The transmitting device may discontinue transmitting during the COT for a gap period, and resume transmitting subsequent to the gap period without performing another LBT procedure. The minimum dwell time may be based on a periodicity of a channel reservation signal transmitted by one or more other devices using the shared radio frequency spectrum. In some cases, the transmitting device may schedule one or more receiving devices with resources for transmissions during the COT, and the receiving devices may perform a LBT that is non-adjacent with an associated transmission.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for scheduling chain design. Certain aspects of the subject matter described in this disclosure can be implemented in a method for wireless communication. The method generally includes determining a limit associated with a quantity of a plurality of downlink control information (DCI) for each of at least one scheduling chain, each of at least one of the plurality of DCI to be transmitted on one of a plurality of data channels, and wherein each of the plurality of DCI in the scheduling chain schedules another one of the plurality of data channels; and transmitting the plurality of DCI on the plurality of data channels in accordance with the determination to a user-equipment (UE).

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for frame-based initiator device operations. A wireless device may be operating within a frame-based equipment communications system, where a frame may include a channel occupancy time period and a minimum idle period. An initiating device may be configured to initiate autonomous uplink communications during the channel occupancy time period of its frame, while the device may not initiate communications during an idle period of its frame. In some cases, a frame-based equipment communications system may include more than one initiating device, where the idle periods for different initiating devices may occur at different times. In some cases, the initiating device may be configured to initiate communications during the idle period for another initiating device. This may allow the wireless system to decrease system overhead associated with a minimum idle period per frame.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) receives, from a base station (BS), an indication of a random access (RA) channel (RACH) preamble. The RACH preamble is a member of a first set of RACH preambles reserved for positioning purposes, the first set of RACH preambles is different from a second set of RACH preambles reserved for communication purposes, and the first and second sets of RACH preambles are associated with the BS. The UE detects, while in a radio resource control (RRC) idle or RRC inactive state, a positioning event. The UE transmits, to the BS, the RACH preamble. The UE receives, from the BS, a RA response for positioning purposes that is different from a RA response for communication purposes, the RA response for positioning purposes including a random access preamble identifier that is mapped to the RACH preamble.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In some wireless communications systems, wireless devices may communicate using reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) for improved spatial diversity. A base station may transmit, to a user equipment (UE), control signaling indicating a configuration for a channel state information (CSI) reference signal (RS) resource set corresponding to one or more RISs and a communication beam threshold for the one or more RISs. The CSI-RS resource set may be specific to one RIS or may configure resources for multiple RISs. The UE may receive, according to the CSI-RS resource set, a set of CSI-RSs corresponding to a set of respective communication beams (e.g., reflected beams from the one or more RISs). The UE may transmit a CSI report indicating one or more communication beams selected by the UE based on the set of CSI-RSs and the communication beam threshold.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device, such as a base station or a user equipment, may identify an energy detection threshold for a sensing beam associated with a channel access procedure, such as a listen-before-talk (LBT) procedure. The wireless device may also identify a set of transmit power parameters for one or more transmit beams. The wireless device may determine a degree of overlap between a coverage area of one or more transmit beams and a coverage area of the sensing beam. The wireless device may adjust the set of transmit power parameters, the energy detection threshold, or a combination thereof based on the degree of overlap. The wireless device may perform the channel access procedure based on the determining, the adjusting, or both.
