Abstract: A viscoelastic foam layer, comprising a polyurethane comprising: from about 15 weight parts to about 75 weight parts toluene diisocyanate (TDI) residues per 100 weight parts polyol residues; wherein the viscoelastic foam layer: has a density less than or equal to 2 pounds/cubic foot (0.032 g/cm3), has an air flow greater than or equal to 2.5 CFM (0.07 m3/min), has a recovery time greater than or equal to 4 seconds, has an indentation force deflection (IFD) less than or equal to 10 pounds/square foot (478.8 Pa), has a height loss less than or equal to 10% after prolonged compression of 90% of an original height. A method of making the viscoelastic foam layer. A body support article comprising the viscoelastic foam layer.

Abstract: A process for preparing a porous material involves at least the steps of providing a mixture (I) containing a composition (A), which contains components suitable to from an organic gel, and a solvent (B); reacting the components in the composition (A) in the presence of the solvent (B) to form a gel; and drying of the gel. The composition (A) contains a catalyst system (CS), which contains at least a catalyst component (C1) selected from ammonium salts and phosphonium salts, and an acid with a phosphor containing acid group as a catalyst component (C2). Porous materials can be obtained in this way and the porous materials can be used as thermal insulation material and in vacuum insulation panels and vacuum insulation systems, in particular in interior or exterior thermal insulation systems as well as for insulation of refrigerators and freezers and in water tank or ice maker insulation systems.

Abstract: There is described a process for producing a free-rise polyurethane foam having a density of less than or equal to about 0.75 pcf. the process comprises the steps of: (a) contacting: (i) an isocyanate, (ii) a first polyol comprising a first polymer chain consisting essentially of propylene oxide units and alkylene oxide units selected from ethylene oxide, butylene oxide and mixtures thereof in a weight ratio of propylene oxide units to alkylene oxide units in the range of from about 90:10 to about 25:75, the polymer chain being terminally capped with the ethylene oxide units, the first polyol having a primary hydroxyl content of at least about 70% based on the total hydroxyl content of the first polyol, (iii) water (iv) a surfactant and (v) a catalyst to form a foamable reaction mixture; and (b) expanding the foamable reaction mixture to produce the free-rise polyurethane foam.
