Thus, since the print mode, the "drip-line" mode, and the stand-by mode are performed as the squeeze roller installed at the squeeze frame is elevated, a reactionary force generated when the photoreceptor belt is pressed can be prevented from being transferred to the main frame.

    摘要: A liquid electrophotographic printer having an improved drying unit is provided. The liquid electrophotographic printer includes a photoreceptor belt circulating and supported by a plurality of rollers on an endless track, for forming a latent electrostatic image on the photoreceptor belt, a development unit for supplying a developer liquid to the photoreceptor belt and developing the latent electrostatic image into a toner image, a drying unit for drying the photoreceptor belt on which the toner image is formed, and a transfer unit for transferring the toner image to a sheet of paper, wherein the drying unit includes a heating device installed in the vicinity of one surface of the photoreceptor belt for heating the photoreceptor belt on which the toner image is formed to evaporate a carrier sticking to the photoreceptor belt, and a collector installed in the vicinity of another surface of the photoreceptor belt for collecting the carrier evaporated by the heating device. Therefore, the drying unit is simplified, and the life of the photoreceptor belt is prolonged. Also, a slip of the photoreceptor belt is prevented.

    摘要: In an image forming apparatus, a supply roller 4 supplies a liquid developer to the photo-conductive substance of a photosensitive drum or belt prior to an electrostatic latent image forming process. The supply roller 4 is applied with a voltage dentical in polarity with the charge of toner in the liquid developer, and the liquid developer is uniformly supplied to the surface of a photo-conductive substance to form a liquid developer layer. An exposure unit 6 selectively exposes the photo-conductive substance from the upside of the liquid developer layer in accordance with the image information, to thereby weaken an adhesion of the toner in an exposed area of the liquid developer to the photo-conductive substance. A removing roller 8 is applied with a voltage opposite in polarity to the toner charge to attract and recover the toner weakened in the adhesion by an electric field. The developed image caused by the liquid developer which has remained on the surface of the photo-conductive substance without being recovered is transferred to a recording medium 11 by a transfer roller 13.

    摘要: A printing machine and method for efficiently forming toner images such that a quantity of unused toner applied to a photoreceptor of the machine is significantly diminished are provided. The printing machine and method include a movable photoreceptor having a photoconductive surface for supporting electrostatic charge; a first charging device for selectively charging only scattered portions of the surface of the photoreceptor; a liquid developer material supply and application apparatus for applying a coat of charged toner solids having a single polarity onto each charged selected scattered portion, thereby forming an image area patch of toner; an exposure device for image-wise exposing each charged selected scattered portion to form a first latent image therein; and a contact electrostatic printing (CEP) assembly including a conductive (CEP) roll and a bias source coupled thereto, for applying compressive and tensile forces to the image area centered patches of toner moving through an image processing nip formed by the photoconductive surface of the photoreceptor and the conductive CEP roll, wherein the bias source cooperates with a charge pattern of the image area centered patches of toner to generate image-wise electric fields within the image processing nip, and the image-wise electric fields together with the compressive and tensile forces, enable easy separation of background area toner solids from image area toner solids of the image area centered patches of toner, and onto the CEP roll; thereby resulting in an efficiently produced, quality toner image with significantly reduced non-development marking material generated and requiring removal.

    摘要: An alignment device for a developing roller and a squeegee roller of an image forming apparatus. The alignment device includes a first supporting block for supporting the shaft of a first backup roller which in turn is disposed opposite to the squeegee roller with a photosensitive belt therebetween; and a second supporting block for fixing the shaft of a developing roller and enabling development by the developing roller, and for supporting the shaft of a second backup roller which in turn is disposed opposite to the developing roller with the photosensitive belt therebetween. A roller frame is provided for fixing the shaft of the squeegee roller, and for supporting the first supporting block and the second supporting block while surrounding a portion of the second supporting block. An elastic member is installed between the first and second supporting blocks for adjusting the centers of the supporting blocks. In the above image forming apparatus, since the developing roller and a corresponding backup roller are supported by an integral, one-piece supporting block, the assembly tolerance present in a conventional block is avoided. When shafts of backup rollers are seated at grooves of the respective supporting blocks, an error in the horizontal position is compensated for by an elastic force of an elastic member installed between the supporting blocks, and the supporting blocks are precisely centered. Accordingly, there is an advantage in that a developing roller and a squeegee roller can be precisely aligned with the respective backup rollers.
