Abstract: An in-ear hearing device having an ear interfacing portion integrally formed with an elongated stem portion, wherein the ear interfacing portion extends away from the elongated stem portion; a first acoustic port formed in the ear interfacing portion; a speaker disposed in the ear interfacing portion and aligned to emit sound from the acoustic port; a plurality of electrical contacts disposed at an end of the stem portion, the plurality of electrical contacts including first and second contacts; a second acoustic port formed at the end of the elongated stem portion between the first and second contacts; a microphone disposed in the stem portion; and a channel that fluidically couples the microphone to the second acoustic port.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for controlling the own-voice experience of a user who talks while an earpiece is mounted to occlude an ear of the user. A vibration sensor is engaged with the user's head to sense vibrations formed by the user speaking and conducted by the user's head to the vibration sensor. A signal generator operates a speaker element, which is integrated with the earpiece, to generate sound waves in the ear canal of the user, based on the output signal of the vibration sensor. The signal generator generates the sound waves to at least partially cancel other sound waves that are generated by at least part of said vibrations entering the ear canal from surrounding bone and/or tissue. The system and method counteracts the occlusion effect and are applicable in connection with in-ear headsets, earphones, in-ear headphones, in-ear monitors, circumaural headphones, hearing aids, earplugs and earmuffs.

Abstract: An accessory such as a wireless headset may have an antenna for transmitting and receiving wireless signals. First and second earbuds may be coupled to different ends of a housing for the accessory. A rigid flex printed circuit board in the housing may include a rigid printed circuit portion. The rigid printed circuit portion may include first and second rigid printed circuit layers. A first portion of a flexible printed circuit may be interposed between the first and second rigid layers. A second portion of the flexible printed circuit may extend from an end of the rigid layers and may be wrapped around the first rigid layer. Planar inverted-F antenna resonating element, antenna shorting, and antenna feeding traces may be formed on the second portion of the flexible printed circuit. The efficiency of the antenna may be undisturbed by the presence of a user's body adjacent to the accessory.

Abstract: A connector for providing audio signals to reduce noise during transmissions. A multi-pin connector receives audio signals and a ground, power, and audio signal connector transfers the audio signals to a noise-reduction device. An audio output transfers audio signals from the multi-pin connector to an in-ear system and at, least one ear-protection device. A multi-pin signal separator in communication with the multi-pin connector, the ground, power, and audio signal connector, and the audio output can receive all or a portion of the audio signals from the multi-pin connector, the ground, power, and audio signal connector, and the audio output and can selectively pass the audio signals to at least one of: the in-ear system and the at least one ear-protection device, while accepting a plurality of pin configurations.
