    摘要: This disclosure relates to methods, apparatus, and computer program code for the holographic display of images. We describe a method of displaying an image holographically. The method includes: dividing the image into a plurality of spatial tiles; and displaying, for each tile in rapid succession, at least one hologram to reproduce an image of the tile, to give the impression of the plurality of tiles together; and wherein the method also includes controlling a shutter spatial light modulator (SLM) in a replay field of the holograms such that when each tile is displayed light for the others of the plurality of tiles is substantially blocked.

    摘要: We describe a method of generating data for displaying an image defined by a plurality of holographically generated subframes for display sequentially in time to give the impression of said image, the method including: receiving data for said image for display; determining holographic data for a said subframe from target image data at a first spatial resolution derived from said received data; converting said holographic data to image subframe data for display to generate a said holographic subframe, said image subframe data having a second spatial resolution lower than said first spatial resolution; generating reconstructed image data at said first spatial resolution from said image subframe data, said reconstructed image data representing said displayed holographic subframe; adjusting said target image data using said reconstructed image data; and determining holographic data and image subframe data for a subsequent said subframe using said adjusted image data.

    摘要: A method and a device for encoding and reconstructing computer-generated video holograms using a conventional LC display: it provides holographic reconstruction of three-dimensional scenes using electronically controllable pixel in a holographic array (3) with a conventional resolution, and is reasonably free from flickering and cross-talk. Reconstruction is in real time, and for both eyes at the same time, over a large viewing zone. The method takes advantage of an optical focusing means (2) in order to image vertically coherent light emitted by a line light source (1) into viewing windows (8R, 8L) after modulation by the pixel array (3). The holographic reconstruction (11) of the scene is rendered visible from viewing windows (8R, 8L) for both eyes of an observer by way of diffraction at the pixels. According to the invention, the controllable pixels are disposed in vertical pixel columns (15, 16), which encode separate holograms of the same scene for each of the viewer's eyes (R, L), where said holograms are one-dimensional in the vertical direction and horizontally interleaved. An image separation means (7) with separating elements arranged parallel to the pixel columns reveals the respective pixel columns (15, 15′ or 16, 16′) for one eye and covers them for the other eye.
