    摘要: An apparatus comprises a neutron detector. The neutron detector comprises a conversion layer comprising a mixture of a neutron absorbing material and a scintillation material; and a photodetector optically coupled to the conversion layer and arranged to detect photons generated as a result of neutron absorption events in the conversion layer; wherein the apparatus is adapted to be carried by a user and the conversion layer is positioned within the neutron detector such that when the apparatus is being carried by a user in normal use neutrons are absorbed in the conversion layer after passing through the user such that the user's body provides a neutron moderating effect. In some cases the apparatus may be carried in association with a backpack or clothing worn by a user, for example, the neutron detector may be sized to fit in a pocket. In other cases the apparatus may be a hand-held device with the conversion layer arranged within a handle of the device to be gripped by a user when being carried.

    摘要: A digital X-ray imaging system is provided. The digital X-ray imaging system includes an X-ray source and a digital X-ray detector. The digital X-ray detector includes a scintillator configured to absorb radiation emitted from the X-ray source and to emit optical photons in response to the absorbed radiation. The digital X-ray detector also includes multiple pixels, each pixel including a pinned photodiode and at least two charge-storage capacitors coupled to the pinned photodiode, wherein each pixel is configured to absorb the optical photons emitted by the scintillator and each pinned photodiode is configured to generate a photocharge in response to the absorbed optical photons. The digital X-ray detector further includes control circuitry coupled to each pixel of the multiple pixels and configured to selectively control a respective flow of the photocharge generated by the pinned photodiode to a respective charge-storage capacitor of the at least two charge-storage capacitors during integration.

    摘要: Disclosed is a method and an apparatus for analyzing pieces of ore for the purpose of sorting. Each piece falling by the analyzer is irradiated individually by means of two gamma radiation sources operating at different energy levels so selected that, as to the scattering effect, at one level the Compton effect is predominant and at the other level the Compton effect and the photoelectric effect compete with each other. The former effect is strongly dependent on the ordinal number of the element and, thus, by detecting with at least one detector the scattering intensities produced with the said two sources of radiation and comparing the scattering intensities with each other, the proportion of heavy elements in the ore piece can be determined and the ore piece can be classified on the basis thereof. For example, one energy dispersively operating scintillation detector can be used for detecting the scattered radiation.
