摘要: A method and system for calibrating a PET scanner are described. The PET scanner may have a field of view (FOV) and multiple detector rings. A detector ring may have multiple detector units. A line of response (LOR) connecting a first detector unit and a second detector unit of the PET scanner may be determined. The LOR may correlate to coincidence events resulting from annihilation of positrons emitted by a radiation source. A first time of flight (TOF) of the LOR may be calculated based on the coincidence events. The position of the radiation source may be determined. A second TOF of the LOR may be calculated based on the position of the radiation source. A time offset may be calculated based on the first TOF and the second TOF. The first detector unit and the second detector unit may be calibrated based on the time offset.

摘要: A method and apparatus for estimating a heating value of a biological material. The method includes irradiating of the biological material with X-ray radiation of at least two different energy levels, measuring of an amount of radiation transmitted through the biological material at these energy levels, and measuring fluorescent radiation emitted by the biological material when irradiated at these energy levels. A final estimate of the heating value is then determined based on a preliminary estimate of the heating value of the biological material based on the measured transmitted radiation and a correction value based on the fluorescent radiation.

摘要: A method is described for correlating microscopy images from a number of modalities in a sub diffraction resolution environment. The method may include receiving a number of datasets that may represent microscopy captures from a number of different modalities. The microscopy captures may contain feature markers that may be used to register a number of data points contained in a dataset with data points from another dataset. Upon registering the data points of the datasets, a combined dataset may be produced and a visual image of the combined dataset may be provided.

摘要: A method and apparatus are provided for analysing a fluid, especially an oil/water/gas mixture of unknown composition flowing in a pipeline (10). The apparatus can operate remotely, for example on the sea bed. A gamma-ray source (12) and a diametrically arranged scintillator (20) enable the density to be determined; while a fast neutron source (14) and a diametrically arranged germanium gamma spectrometer (22) cooled by a cryo-cooler (26) enable the concentrations of the elements present to be determined. The apparatus also includes a pulsed fast neutron source and a gamma detector to determine the flow velocity of the fluid. The apparatus enables the weight fractions of oil, water and gas to be derived.
