    摘要: A micro combined heat and power system includes at least a heat source, an expander, a pump, a staged, counterflow condenser and a conduit for transporting a working fluid. The heat source can be, for example, a burner, while the expander is preferably a scroll expander. The heat source superheats the working fluid, which is preferably an organic working fluid. The superheated organic working fluid passes through the expander, which is coupled to a generator to produce electricity. After the working fluid is expanded, its gives up at least a portion of its excess heat first to the condenser. By placing the condenser in a counterflow arrangement, the fluid receiving the heat from the condensing working fluid can be of a higher temperature, thus allowing more system variation in the heat to power output ratio. The fluid receiving heat from the condenser may include circulating air, water or related fluid to provide space heat or domestic hot water.

    摘要: A combined steam condenser and liquid-to-liquid heat exchanger has an outer shell forming an enclosure within which a first plurality of tubes are supported at opposite ends by tube sheets to provide a steam condenser. Within the outer shell an inner shell having a heat exchange liquid inlet and outlet contains a second plurality of tubes providing a heat exchanger. In one embodiment a first head is affixed to one end of the outer shell and cooling liquid introduced into that head passes through the second plurality of tubes and part of the first plurality of tubes to a second head at the opposite end which directs the cooling liquid through an upper portion of the first plurality back to the first head. The cooling liquid is then directed from the first head through a lower part of the first plurality of tubes toward the second head where it is discharged through an outlet. Steam received at a steam inlet in the top of the outer shell passes adjacent to the first plurality of tubes on which it is condensed and the resulting condensate falls into a condensate collection hot well having a condensate removal outlet at the bottom of the outer shell. In another embodiment U-shaped tubes are provided in both the first and second pluralities and the cooling liquid is introduced and removed from the same head at one end of the shell.

    摘要: A liquid desiccant dehumidifier includes a liquid desiccant absorber arranged to receive concentrated liquid desiccant and absorb moisture contained in ambient air passed through the absorber thereby diluting the liquid desiccant. A first heat exchanger is operative to heat dilute liquid desiccant received from the desiccant absorber prior to passage to a boiler that evaporates moisture from the diluted liquid desiccant to create steam and reconstitute the desiccant into a concentrated liquid desiccant. Dilute liquid desiccant from the first heat exchanger first passes to a condenser that receives steam from the boiler and sensibly heats the dilute liquid desiccant to a higher second temperature without direct exposure to steam or air. A second heat exchanger communicates with the condenser, the boiler and the first heat exchanger and is operative to further heat diluted liquid desiccant received from the condenser to a higher third temperature prior to entry into the boiler by recovering waste heat from the boiler. A pump draws concentrated liquid desiccant from the boiler through the heat exchangers and passes it to the absorber.

    摘要: A multi-flash evaporator having modular vertical cyclone chambers designed to generate a paraboloid of revolution providing an extended surface area for release of flashed vapors and attaining equilibrium. With multiple stages, the system incorporates deep loop seals to prevent blowby between stages at all levels of capacity and employs a vapor lift system to permit low pressure differentials between stages at high vacuum.
