This invention relates to a method for dismantling a cylindrical tank, comprising steps of separating the sidewall of the tank from its bottom plate, cutting the sidewall into portions along a spiral line provided on the periphery of the tank in the direction from the lower end to the upper end, and removing the portions while temporarily supporting the sidewall, said temporary supporting step being conducted so that the lower end of the removed portion is gradually lowered and the location to support the sidewall shifts as the removing step proceeds. According to this invention, one can safely and inexpensively dismantle a cylindrical tank. The method of this invention can be used even if some structures exist in the peripheral area of the cylindrical tank. Further, this method does not need a step for providing rotatably movable means or a step for rotating the upper part of the tank, resulting in a simple method that is easy to implement.

The crusher permits the breaking of a crushed mass of natural stone by means of a breaking force occurring between a stationary jaw body and a movable jaw body as the movable jaw body is closed toward the stationary jaw body. A flat auxiliary member is replaceably disposed on the stationary jaw body opposing the movable jaw body so as to break the crushed mass into smaller pieces. The distal end of the stationary jaw body projects longer than the distal end of the movable jaw body to facilitate the raking out of the crushed masses obtained in a blasting operation.

The jet tube is inclined in one direction along the extension of the guide during the movement of the carriage along the guide, and a control unit ensures that pivoting of the jet tube with an angular velocity leading to movement of a nozzle of the jet tube along the guide with a velocity substantially equal to the velocity of the carriage is initiated at the same time as the carriage is stopped in an end position, and the control unit starts the movement of the carriage in an opposite direction when the jet tube has finished its pivoting movement.

The invention relates to an apparatus for demolishing a reactor shield wall. The apparatus has a pillar (2) extending from the top side of the reactor toward the bottom of the reactor, an upper support device (3) for supporting the upper portion of the pillar (2) at the top side of the reactor, and cutting devices (5, 6) mounted to the pillar so as to be upwardly and downwardly movable along the pillar (2). The pillar (2) is rotatably supported by the support device (3). The upper support device (3) has drive devices (30, 31, 32) for rotating the pillar (2). The cutting devices (5, 6) are caused to swing in the reactor interior by rotating the pillar (2). The drive devices are disposed at the top side of the reactor, and this permits easy maintenance and inspection.
