Abstract:
The invention relates to a multi-chamber with ultra-high-pressure or hydraulic motor compressors or motor pumps for compressing gas or liquid at ultra-high pressure, formed by several different-sized concentric chambers, wherein each chamber contains smaller chambers, there being installed between the chambers motors or pumps that enable fluid to be introduced into the inner chambers at increasingly greater pressure.
Abstract:
Methods of forming polycrystalline diamond compacts include employing field assisted sintering techniques with high temperature and high pressure sintering techniques. For example, a particle mixture that includes diamond particles may be sintered by subjecting the particle mixture to a high temperature and high pressure sintering cycle, and pulsing direct electrical current through the particle mixture during at least a portion of the high temperature and high pressure sintering cycle. The polycrystalline diamond compacts may be used to form cutting elements for earth-boring tools. Sintering systems are configured to perform such sintering processes.
Abstract:
Methods for forming cutting elements comprising polycrystalline materials, methods for forming polycrystalline compacts for cutting elements of a drilling tool, methods for forming polycrystalline diamond compacts, and resulting polycrystalline compacts and cutting elements are disclosed. Grains of a hard material are introduced to a press and subjected to a high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) process to sinter the grains. The system conditions (i.e., temperature and pressure) are then adjusted past a phase or state change point, after which, at least one of the system conditions is held during an anneal stage before the system conditions are adjusted to final levels. The resulting compacts and cutting elements may therefore include inter-granularly bonded hard material grains with a more stable microstructure (e.g., less stressed microstructure) than a polycrystalline compact and cutting element formed without an anneal stage during the HPHT process.

Abstract:
A tool for a high temperature, high pressure apparatus includes a working layer of a first hard metal composition of material and at least one supporting layer of a second hard metal composition of material attached to the working layer. The first hard metal composition has a mean linear intercept of less than about 0.4 μm of a binder phase. The working layer has a top and bottom surface. At least one supporting layer of a second hard metal composition of material is attached to the working layer. The at least one supporting layer includes an upper portion. An interface region is formed by the bottom surface of the working layer and the upper portion of the at least one supporting layer. The bottom surface and upper portion have a corresponding shape, wherein the bottom surface and upper portion are bonded to form the corresponding shape in the interface region.
Abstract:
A cartridge assembly comprising a chamber for containing hydraulic fluid, an intensifier element capable of reciprocating in the chamber and displacing the hydraulic fluid responsive to a drive means acting on the intensifier element, and a piston capable of reciprocating in the chamber and being displaceable responsive to a change in the pressure of the hydraulic fluid. The cartridge assembly is configured so that when the pressure in the fluid increases responsive to a first force being applied by the drive means on the intensifier, the hydraulic fluid will exert a second force on the piston, the second force being greater than the first force; the mass of the hydraulic fluid being substantially conserved within the cartridge assembly.
