Abstract:
A continuous flow of a lineal object such as wire, banding or twine is tagged with the device of this invention with an adhesive-backed tag that is folded around the lineal object as it passes underneath and thru the device.
Abstract:
A harvesting device for harvesting agricultural crops being adapted to harvest an agricultural crops, to compress the agricultural crop into bales, and to strip loose material from at least a portion of the surface region of a bale of the agricultural crop.
Abstract:
A shaft is disposed along an axis of rotation and a bearing failure indicator, in the form of a disk having protrusions or teeth spaced about its periphery, is provided on the shaft adjacent a bearing supporting a tubular roll for rotation relative to the shaft. When the bearing has undergone a predetermined amount of wear, which happens prior to bearing failure, the teeth or protrusions of the disk come into engagement with a contact surface due to non-concentric rotation of the roll relative to the shaft. In one embodiment, the disk is thick and the teeth make an audible knocking sound which warns an operator of an impending bearing failure. In another embodiment, the disk is relatively thin and a squealing sound is generated when the protrusions engage the contact surface. In addition to the bearing failure indicator, a slip coupling may be used to prevent the transmission of torque to the drive shaft when interference between the disk and the contact surface occurs. Further, a secondary bearing may be provided to prolong operation of a wearing primary bearing.
Abstract:
A roller in the form of a hollow cylinder is for use in harvesting machines and has inner support plates provided within the roller. A plurality of the innermost support plates are connected together by at least one axle section so as to prevent lateral displacement.
Abstract:
A device for sensing moisture in moving hay bales has a pair of star-shaped wheels situated to have points penetrate into the bale and be driven by the bale. The points establish electrode surfaces within the bale between which resistivity or conductivity of an electrical current may be measured and scaled to moisture content of the hay of the bale.
Abstract:
A large round baler is equipped with sensors for measuring the location of harvest, and/or various physical characteristics, of crop material being placed in a specific bale, with these parameters being electronically recorded and stored in memory on an electronic storage medium. In order to be able to associate the location and measured values with the individual bale to which the values pertain, a device is provided by which the electronic storage medium may be inserted in, or attached to, the bale.
Abstract:
Apparatus for controlling multiple functions of an agricultural implement such as a baler or a harvester includes first, second and third hydraulic cylinders which are operated to control first, second and third functions, respectively, of the implement. A shuttle valve is mechanically coupled to the first hydraulic cylinder by a rock shaft so that when the first hydraulic cylinder is retracted and extended, the shuttle valve selectively connects either the second or the third hydraulic cylinder to an independent source of hydraulic fluid. The first hydraulic cylinder is connected to another independent source of hydraulic fluid. In a baler having a bale case, a pickup, a tongue and a bale thrower, the first hydraulic cylinder raises and lowers the pickup, the second hydraulic cylinder moves the tongue between a transport position and an operating position, and the third hydraulic cylinder adjusts the bale thrower relative to the bale case.
Abstract:
A hay pre-conditioner mounted on a hay-baler so as to be disposed in front thereof and raisable thereto, wherein the hay pre-conditioner is comprised of an elongated, box-like structure having a plurality of transversely mounted steam outlet nozzles for conditioning a windrow of hay in front of the baler.
Abstract:
A pull-type baler has a rotary, finger-type pickup mechanism that elevates crop from a window as the machine advances to a horizontal deck from which it is fed into a baling chamber. An improved crop compressor is mounted above the pickup mechanism for restraining the upward movement of the crop material as it is being picked up, the crop compressor including a transverse support member above the pickup. A pair of parallel, laterally spaced arm are swingably mounted on the support member and rotatably carry a transverse bar from which a plurality of side by side downwardly and rearwardly curved compressor tines extend in cantilever fashion, the rearward ends of the tines being disposed opposite to and above the deck. The angular position of the arms about the support member is selectively adjustable to vary the heighth of the bar, and the angular position of the bar relative to the arms is in turn controlled by a crank arm attached to one end of the bar and connected to the support structure by an adjustable link, so that as the angled position of the arm is adjusted to vary the clearance between tines and the deck, the angular position of the bars can be simultaneously adjusted to maintain the desired angular position of the tines.
