    Abstract: Transmit power (e.g., maximum transmit power) may be defined based on the maximum received signal strength allowed by a receiver and a total received signal strength from transmitting nodes at the receiver. Transmit power may be defined for an access node (e.g., a femto node) such that a corresponding outage created in a cell (e.g., a macro cell) is limited while still providing an acceptable level of coverage for access terminals associated with the access node. An access node may autonomously adjust its transmit power based on channel measurement and a defined coverage hole to mitigate interference and perform a self-calibration process.

    Abstract: Transmit power for an access point is controlled based on information received by the access point. For example, an access point may employ one or more algorithms that use messages received from nearby access terminals to maintain an acceptable tradeoff between providing an adequate coverage area for access point transmissions and mitigating interference that these transmissions cause at nearby access terminals. Here, the access point may employ a network listen-based algorithm upon initialization of the access terminal to provide preliminary transmit power control until sufficient information is collected for another transmit power control algorithm (e.g., an access terminal assisted algorithm). Also, the access terminal may employ an active access terminal protection scheme to mitigate interference the access point may otherwise cause to a nearby access terminal that is in active communication with another access point.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may identify a first transmit power limit based at least in part on at least one of a specific absorption rate limit, a maximum permissible exposure limit, or a power density limit. The UE may modify, based at least in part on a scaling factor associated with a time interval, the first transmit power limit to obtain a modified first transmit power limit.     Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that support techniques for transmission power determination for radio frequency (RF) exposure compliance. A transmitting device, such as a user equipment (UE) may determine an uplink transmit power limit for a time window based on an RF limit and a duration of the time window. The device may use the power limit to determine an uplink transmit power based on a computed uplink transmission period for the time window that accounts for a time period during which the device is expected to actually transmit. The computed uplink transmission period may be based on one or more actual uplink transmission periods during one or more prior time windows, a predictive model, network signaling, or any combinations thereof. The device may transmit one or more uplink transmissions during the time window using the determined uplink transmit power.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices channel quality indicator (CQI) reporting based on demodulation reference signal (DMRS) from a base station are described. In some cases, a base station may configure a user equipment (UE) with such DMRS based CQI reporting (e.g., by transmitting a CQI reporting configuration to the UE). The CQI reporting configuration may specify the UE is to report CQI based on DMRS and, in some cases, may configure the UE to report the CQI with hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback. A UE may receive a control message that indicates a resource for reception of a downlink transmission and an uplink control resource for transmission of CQI information. The UE may identify a DMRS of the downlink transmission, calculate a CQI based on the DMRS, and transmit the calculated CQI to the base station via the uplink control resource indicated by the received control message.
