Abstract: Some user equipments (UEs) served by a base station may need to receive data from the base station and/or transmit data to the base station with lower latency than other UEs. It is desired to accommodate the presence of both low latency and latency tolerant communications in shared time-frequency resources to try to improve resource utilization. Embodiments are disclosed in which low latency and latency tolerant communications coexist in the same time-frequency resources. In some embodiments, a latency tolerant transmission is postponed to free resources to send a low latency transmission.

Abstract: Systems and methods for transmitting and receiving resource blocks using OFDM-based signals are provided. The OFDM-based signal has a number of sub-bands, and employs a respective numerology in each sub-band. Each numerology has a respective subcarrier spacing and OFDM symbol duration. For a given receiver, content is mapped to resource blocks within an assigned one of the sub-bands, using the sub-carrier spacing of the sub-band.

Abstract: A system and method for multiplexing traffic. A wireless device such as a base station may schedule a first transmission of first data (e.g., latency tolerant data) to a first UE on first resources, and transmit second data (e.g., low latency data) to a second UE on a portion of the first resources. The base station may signal a first indicator e.g. via Radio Resource Control (RRC) signaling to the first UE indicating that the first UE is to monitor for a second indicator that itself indicates the presence of second data on the first resources. The base station may then signal a second indicator to the first UE to indicate the presence of the second data on the first resources. By using the first indicator to initiate the monitoring of the second indicator, the first UE can reduce the amount of monitoring it needs to perform if there is no second data traffic in a certain period of time or in a certain frequency band.

The available bandwidth is divided into sub-band portions, and the bandwidth portions are used as the unit of allocation for allocating resource blocks to user equipment.

Abstract: When a user equipment (UE) is wirelessly communicating with a network, the wireless channel conditions may sometimes result in a low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). The low SNR may be a result of the UE having poor geometry, e.g. the UE is at a cell edge. It is desired to increase the reliability of wireless communications in low SNR conditions. In some embodiments, less information may be dynamically signaled in the downlink control information (DCI), thereby allowing for a possibly lower effective coding rate.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may determine that a transmission resource includes a first orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) symbol that is configured as a downlink symbol or as flexible, where the transmission resource is allocated for uplink (UL) transmissions during a time duration, and includes K transmission occasions (TOs). The UE may transmit a first UL transmission in the transmission resource omitting the first OFDM symbol. The first UL transmission includes K repetitions to be transmitted in the respective K TOs, and the K repetitions includes an initial transmission and at least one retransmission of the initial transmission.

Abstract: Current HARQ procedures for grant-based uplink transmissions may not be suitable for implementations in which a UE can simultaneously transmit multiple transport blocks (TBs) to a base station. However, in some scenarios, such as in some grant-free uplink transmission schemes, a UE may simultaneously transmit multiple TBs. Systems and methods are disclosed herein for performing HARQ for situations in which a UE simultaneously transmits multiple TBs to a base station. By using the systems and methods described herein, HARQ may therefore be performed in such situations.
