Abstract: An apparatus for coding an image is provided to effectively code the image. The apparatus for coding the image includes an input image segmentation unit to segment an input image into a plurality of image blocks including a first image block and a second image block. The apparatus also includes a waveform information generation unit to select a plurality of reference pixels from among pixels included in the first image block, generate first waveform information about the first image block based on a pixel value difference between the selected plurality of reference pixels, and generate second waveform information about the second image block based on a pixel value difference between the pixels included in the second image block. The apparatus also includes a coding unit to code an image included in the second image block based on the first waveform information and the second waveform information.

Abstract: An encoding apparatus and a decoding apparatus in a transform between a Modified Discrete Cosine Transform (MDCT)-based coder and a different coder are provided. The encoding apparatus may encode additional information to restore an input signal encoded according to the MDCT-based coding scheme, when switching occurs between the MDCT-based coder and the different coder. Accordingly, an unnecessary bitstream may be prevented from being generated, and minimum additional information may be encoded.

The image encoder includes a dividing unit to divide a macro block into a plurality of sub-blocks, a unidirectional application determining unit to determine whether an identical prediction mode is applied to each of the plurality of sub-blocks, and a prediction mode determining unit to determine a prediction mode with respect to each of the plurality of sub-blocks based on a determined result of the unidirectional application determining unit.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method of re-transmission of a lost MMT packet by a packet transmission apparatus. The method includes generating a media processing unit (MPU) based on a media fragment unit (MFU) and generating an MMT asset by encapsulating the MPU; generating an MMT packet based on the MPU included in the generated MMT asset; and transmitting the generated MMT packet, wherein the method further comprises adding, in a signaling message related to re-transmission of the MMT packet, delay_constrained_ARQ_flag to indicate whether or not the MMT packet transmission apparatus supports a delay-constrained automatic repeat request (ARQ) function.
