Abstract:
Many computing scenarios enable a user to send a message to a user expressing a statement, such as a “happy birthday” message or a “let's meet for lunch” message, and may seek assistance in composing the message. Some services may suggest stock messages, which the user may browse and select, but the generic, impersonal style of the messages may be apparent to the recipient. Presented herein are techniques for composing a message from a user to a recipient expressing a selected statement in the personalized style of the user. Such techniques involve evaluating an expression set (e.g., a mailbox or text message set) of the user to identify an expression style of the user when expressing such statements to such recipients, and composing a message that expressing the statement in the expression style of the user.
Abstract:
Example methods, apparatuses, or articles of manufacture are disclosed that may be implemented, in whole or in part, using one or more computing devices to facilitate or otherwise support one or more processes or operations for a machine for recognizing or generating one or more Jabba-type sequences.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is an enhanced device personalization that personalizes a user's experience with a device, e.g., a multi-user device. Rather than personalizing based on the specific user(s) that are using, an active entity, which represents a type of consumption, may be generated and used to make recommendations for personalizing an experience using the device. In a case of a multi-user device, each user's experience is personalized by determining an active entity for the user's experience and without knowledge of which user is using the device.
Abstract:
A content item presented to a user may involve two or more topics, such as news articles mentioning athletes or actors. Users may enjoy expressing opinions about a comparison of the topics, such as personal preferences or an evaluation of talent. Presented herein are techniques for automatically generating, for the content item, a poll among the topics of the content item. The respective comparisons of a comparison set are evaluated for the topics of the content item, and a comparison relevance score is computed identifying the relevance of the comparison of the topics. The comparison having the highest relevance for the topics is selected, and a comparison question is formulated and presented to the user with the content item. Results may be tabulated and presented for the topics of the content item. These techniques facilitate user expression about the content item without depending upon user-authored polls for each content item.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for receiving sensitive information include receiving a request for entering sensitive information, the request received from a user interface rendered on a client device. The methods and systems rely upon nested iframes, each of which is hosted by a different server. An inner iframe is hosted by a server within a secure zone, such as a digital vault. A middle iframe is hosted within the secure zone and is invoked by an intermediate server. An outer iframe is hosted by a server that provides the user interface. The server that provides the user interface may be hosted by a cloud service provider, for example. Using the nested iframes and the network topology described in the present disclosure, users are able to exchange sensitive information with a server within the secure zone through a user interface provided outside the secure zone.
Abstract:
A system, method, and computer readable medium are provided for associating information (including information and services) based upon context. In one example, an apparatus includes interface logic for receiving, during a session (e.g., during a media object capture, upload session, data transfer session, or the like), context information from a user device, and user-generated information associated with the context information. The context information may relate to time, date, location, ambient conditions, biometric (e.g., relating to the user of the device), device/user identification, or combinations thereof. The apparatus further including association logic for associating service information, different from the context information, with the user-generated information based on the context information. The associated service information may include empirical information such as a map of a particular location, the map including points of interest.
Abstract:
Systems and methods to reduce false positives in spam filtering. In one aspect, a method includes automatically generating profiles for persons identified in messages, such as incoming and outgoing e-mails. Messages flagged as spam can be checked against the profile to identify false positives.
Abstract:
In one embodiment, data received from one or more streaming data sources may be monitored by one or more devices. A rate of change in flow of the data received from the one or more streaming data sources may be ascertained. It may be determined whether the rate of change in flow of the data received from the one or more streaming data sources exceeds a threshold rate. Transmission of an alert may be initiated according to a result of determining whether the rate of change in the flow of the data received from the one or more streaming data sources exceeds the threshold rate.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a projection-aware compression, which may be used on image data such as, for example, spherical image data. The compression may be considered to be non-uniform in a sense that the compression need not be uniformly applied, but may be applied to image data as a function of latitude information associated with the image data.
Abstract:
Techniques are provided that include displaying an offer for an interest-based content subscription on an email application Web site, the offer being selectable and displayed in a native format of the email application, and, upon receiving an indication that the offer has been selected by a user, generating an interest-based content subscription without directing a browser application away from the email application Web site. According to some such arrangements, generating the interest-based content subscription may include contacting a third-party Web site associated with the offer, and communicating at least one of an actual identification and a disposable identification of the user to the third-party Web site. The interest-based content subscription may be limited based on at least one of a time duration and a frequency parameter.
