    Abstract: A rotatable surgical instrument, system, and method includes an outer tubular member and an inner tubular member contained, at least in part, within the outer tubular member and configured to rotate relative to the outer tubular member. A distal tip is coupled to and configured to rotate with the inner tubular member, the distal tip forming a channel around a portion of the distal tip. A bearing is rotatably positioned within the channel, wherein the channel inhibits radial and axial movement of the bearing, with respect to the distal tip, along a major axis of the outer tubular member and inner tubular member, and wherein the bearing is configured to inhibit deflection of the distal tip from the major axis.

    Abstract: An endoscope can include an elongated endoscope body. An optical fiber can extend along the endoscope body. The optical fiber can direct therapeutic light and illumination light longitudinally along the optical fiber to a distal portion of the endoscope body. The therapeutic light and the illumination light can have different wavelengths. A wavelength-sensitive light separator, disposed at a distal portion of the optical fiber, can direct the illumination light to exit the optical fiber laterally through a lateral side of the optical fiber at the distal portion of the optical fiber and permit the therapeutic light to exit the optical fiber longitudinally through a distal end of the optical fiber. Examples of suitable wavelength-sensitive light separators can include one or more fiber Bragg gratings that can be obliquely angled, or a diffraction grating disposed on a lateral edge of a length of coreless fiber.

    Abstract: An endoscope body of an endoscope can include a handle, a shaft extending distally from the handle, and a distal portion at a distal end of the shaft. The handle can include a light guide that can receive illumination from a light source that is separate from the endoscope body. The light guide can include an illumination splitter that can split the received illumination into a target illumination and a handle illumination. The light guide can propagate the target illumination to the distal portion to illuminate a target. The distal portion can optionally include a camera that can capture an image of the illuminated target. The illumination splitter can propagate the handle illumination to illuminate at least a portion of the handle, such as an instrument port that can provide access to a proximal end of an instrument sheath that extends to the distal portion.
