    Abstract: Adjacent channel leakage-power ratio (ACLR) can be reduced at a transmitter of a device. A modulated signal can be mapped into a plurality of tone sets in a frequency domain, wherein the plurality of tone sets include a first, a second, and a third set of tones. The first and the third set of tones can be converted in the frequency domain to a fourth and a fifth set of tones, respectively, in a time domain. A zero padding of one or more symbols associated with the fourth and the fifth set of tones can be performed to output a sixth and a seventh set of tones, respectively. The sixth and the seventh set of tones can be converted to an eighth and a ninth set of tones, respectively, in the frequency domain. The eighth and the ninth set of tones can be processed for transmitting to another wireless device.

    Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to methods and apparatus of time-domain multiplexing (TDM) for reference signals (RS) and data using a modified cyclic prefix. A reference signal (RS) and data are multiplexed either in a single symbol or in two time consecutive symbols that respectively including the RS and data. The cyclic prefix (CP) is added to the single symbol using a portion of the RS or to a first symbol of the two time consecutive symbols using a portion of the RS. The CP may be copied from the RS or the end of the symbol, but not the data, in a manner that affords a virtual Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) of the RS and data before discrete Fourier transform (DFT) spreading is performed in a transceiver to provide lower peak to average power ratios and no Inter-symbol interference.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for demodulation reference signal (DMRS) communication are described. The method and apparatus include determining a DMRS pattern for at least two multiplexing schemes. In some aspects, the at least two multiplexing schemes may include orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) and single carrier frequency-division multiplexing (SC-FDM). Further, in some aspects, the DMRS pattern may correspond to a continuous tone pattern in each subframe transmitted in accordance with both SC-FDM and OFDM. Additionally, in some aspects, the DMRS pattern may correspond to a comb tone pattern in each subframe transmitted in accordance with both SC-FDM and OFDM. The method and apparatus further include transmitting a DMRS in accordance with at least one of the two multiplexing schemes and based on the DMRS pattern.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques utilizing shared radio frequency spectrum (SRFS) for certain devices, such as machine type communication(s) (MTC) user equipments (UEs) and evolved or enhanced MTC (eMTC) UEs. An exemplary method, performed, for example, by a base station (BS), includes performing a channel clear assessment (CCA) for at least a portion of the SRFS including one or more narrowband regions, and communicating with at least one MTC UE, after performing the CCA, on at least one of the narrowband regions. A second exemplary method, performed, for example, by a MTC UE, generally includes receiving, from a BS, an assignment of resources in a narrowband region of the SRFS band for the MTC UE to use for communicating with the BS, and communicating with the BS on the narrowband region without performing a CCA for the narrowband region. A third exemplary method, performed, for example, by a MTC UE, generally includes performing a CCA for a narrowband region of the SRFS band and communicating with a BS on the narrowband region.
