Abstract: A weigh module (100) comprises a load cell (4), a supporting member (1) and a guiding arrangement. The supporting member (1) comprises a receiving hole (13) extending vertically and through the supporting member (1). The guiding arrangement comprises a connecting member (23) and two parallel inner faces (611, 612) defined in the receiving hole (13). One end of the connecting member (23) is fixed to the load cell (4) and another end of the connecting member (23) extends into the receiving hole (13). The connecting member (23) cooperates with the two inner faces (611, 612) whereby the supporting member (1) can substantially move in a direction parallel with the inner faces (611, 612).

Abstract: A load cell assembly for an electronic scale may include a substantially flat plate having an outer portion and a load cell aperture defining an inner portion having a deflectable member. A sensor may be disposed on the deflectable member responsive to deflection of the deflectable member. A housing may be configured to engage the outer portion of the load cell and hold the load cell. A foot member may include a bottom portion for contacting the surface upon which the electronic scale is sitting and a top portion including an upwardly depending foot member wall for contacting the inner portion of the load cell and foot member snap fit engagement members configured to engage the inner portion of the load cell, the upwardly depending foot member wall and the foot member snap fit engagement members resisting lateral movement of the foot member relative to the load cell.

Abstract: A ground based launch detection system consisting of a sensor grid of electro-optical sensors for detecting the launch of a threat missile which targets commercial aircraft in proximity to a commercial airport or airfield. The electro-optical sensors are configured in a wireless network which broadcast threat lines to neighboring sensors with overlapping field of views. When a threat missile is verified, threat data is sent to a centrally located processing facility which determines which aircraft in the vicinity are targets and send a dispense countermeasure signal to the aircraft.

Abstract: A platform weighing scale includes a base with vertical corner stands and a weight supporting platform including depending corner bearings. A weight sensing apparatus is supported on the base corner stands and supports the weight supporting platform so that it is moveable relative to the base. A weight sensing mechanism is responsive to movement of the platform for operating a weight indicating device. The weight sensing mechanism includes a plate operatively associated with the weight indicating device. A pair of primary levers are secured at one end to the plate and diverge therefrom relative to a longitudinal centerline and define a select angle therebetween. Each primary lever includes an upper notch receiving one of the corner bearings and a lower notch receiving one of the corner stands so that movement of the platform causes pivotal movement of the levers to move the plate. A bearing insert is fit to each primary lever between the upper notch and the corner bearing and between the lower notch and the corner stand. Each bearing insert is formed to include a pair of troughs received in the notches for bearing on the corner bearing and corner stand. The troughs are angled relative to the primary levers corresponding to the select angle so that the levers fulcrum about an axis perpendicular to the centerline.

Abstract: An improved weighing apparatus includes a load receiving platform which is supported by a plurality of load cells. Each of the load cells has a downwardly facing recess in which a floating pin is received. The pin has a relatively large base which engages a floor or support surface and an upwardly projecting mounting section which extends into the recess in the load cell. The pin has an arcuate upper surface which enables tilting movement to occur between the pin and the load cell to compensate for uneven floors. In order to compensate for shifting movement of the platform relative to the floor due to thermal expansion and other causes, the base of the floating pin is movable along the floor. The mounting section of the pin is held in the recess in the load cell by a retainer plate which is fixedly connected with the load cell.

Abstract: A weight scale is made splash resistant from being splashed by liquids. Means is also disclosed for making the weight scale vapor resistant. The scale includes a housing on a column on a base and a force-to-electrical output transducer is mounted enclosed within the upper housing. A rod is enclosed within the column and is moved longitudinally therewithin by being connected to a lever system connected to the pan or platform on which the weight is received. The rod acts on the transducer and an electronic circuit provides an indication of the weight on an indicator also in the housing. Liquid splash-resistant means is positioned between the bottom of the base and the transducer within the housing for splash-resistant protection of this transducer.
