摘要： An electric iron having a housing (1) and a soleplate (2) in which at least one outlet opening (10;15;34;45) is provided, means (8;19;28;39;43) for generating a fine liquid spray or foam or steam, and means (5) for delivering said generated fine liquid spray or foam or steam through said outlet opening. According to the invention, the iron is provided with detection means (12,14;22,23;35,36;49) for detecting the presence of a surface (7a) in the proximity of the sloplate (2) and for generating a detection signal in response to said detection, and with control means (6) for controlling the delivery of said fine liquid spray or foam or steam in response of said detection signal. For example, the detection means comprise a movable spring-loaded contact element (12) located in the soleplate (2), said element (12) activating a switch (14) for generating said signal when the soleplate is positioned against said surface (7a) and thus depresses said element (12).

摘要： A steam iron, particularly of the so called "drop-by-drop" type, where in order to cause an instantaneous steam production, the water which is contained in a reservoir (11) incorporated in the iron falls drop-by-drop into a vaporization chamber (2) provided in the inner side of the sole plate (1) of the iron in registry with the heating resistance of the sole plate (1), the so-generated steam being conveyed outwards through holes (7) in the sole plate (1). The Lug and gate coact upon assembly or disassembly to protect the user from electrical shock.

摘要： A packaging machine which has a station in which a thermoplastic packaging foil is heated to its thermoplastic state by contacting with the surface of a heating plate. The contacting surface of the heating plate has a plurality of raised zones adjacent to and surrounded by interconnected retracted zones which together form a venting channel for preventing the inclusion of any residual air between the foil and the contacting surface of the heating plate. The raised zones are generally convex in shape, with continuous curvature towards the retracted interconnected and surrounding zones so that, in use, the foil may be applied across its total surface on the contacting surface of the heating plate without inclusion of residual air therebetween, thus achieving uniform heating of the packaging foil and avoiding any deformation or warping thereof.

摘要： A manually operable device for pressing fabric comprising two triangular-shaped jaws, each of which has a flat surface portion. These surface portions face each other and constitute the working surfaces of the device. The two jaws are each secured to a handle. These handles are pivotally joined by a hinge so disposed that the two flat surface portions are separated from each other or are in parallel pressure engagement. The separated position of the surface portions constitutes the loading position of the device for inserting fabric between the two jaws and the other position constitutes the pressing position for pressing fabric inserted between the two jaws. Springs coacting with the handles bias the same into one or the other of the two positions. One of the jaws is hollow and incorporates an electric heating element for heating its flat surface portion, an adjustable thermostatic control for selectively adjusting the heat output of the heating element and an indicator lamp for indicating the state of energization of the heating element. The other jaw comprises a solid flat metallic plate.

摘要： A low profile heat sealing iron for use in applying heat activatable tape in areas of very limited access, such as the sealing of periodic joints in air duct is disclosed. The low profile sealing iron requires only a few inches or less of clearance and has a tape guiding means that feeds the tape to the proper location for heat sealing as the iron is slid along the surface of the member on which the tape is being applied. Preferably, the iron has a handle of adjustable length which permits the sealing iron to be used on ducts measuring six to eight feet or more when the handle is extended, but having a handle only about three feet long or less for easy carrying and handling at other times. A method of using the low profile sealing iron to seal joints in air ducts is also disclosed.
