Abstract:
Dry eye treatment apparatus and methods are described herein which generally comprise a patch or strip affixed to the skin of the upper and/or lower eyelids to deliver heat or other forms of energy, pressure, drugs, moisture, etc. (alone or in combination) to the one or more meibomian glands contained within the underlying skin. The treatment strip or strips include one or more strips configured to adhere to an underlying region of skin in proximity to one or both eyes of a subject such that the one or more strips allow for the subject to blink naturally without restriction from the one or more patches. Moreover, the one or more strips may be configured to emit energy to the underlying region of skin and where the one or more strips are shaped to follow a location of one or more meibomian glands contained within the underlying region of skin.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for preventing brain compression subsequent to removal of a portion of a patient's cranium comprises custom forming a protective external cranial plate. The protective external cranial plate is shaped to approximate the removed portion of the patient's cranium, and to extend peripherally beyond the removed portion. The protective external cranial plate is affixed in airtight and fluid tight engagement to the scalp of the patient.
Abstract:
One aspect of the disclosure relates to processing commands in an online game, and particularly for assigning an order for the execution of commands in the online game such that the commands are executed in that order by disparate servers. The online game may be played by a plurality of users via a respective plurality of client computing devices. Commands may be received at a plurality of game servers from a plurality of users via a plurality of client computing devices. A central server may receive the commands from the respective game servers and may assign sequence numbers for the received commands. The commands may be performed in sequential order. By executing commands in sequential order by the plurality of game servers, the virtual world of the online game may be presented in a consistent way to the plurality of users of the online game.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a novel method of reducing the appearance of rhytides (“facial wrinkles”) and/or infra-orbital shadows (“dark circles”) under the eyes, and striae (“stretch marks”), or lentigo senilis (“age spots”), and hyper/hypo pigmentation on other anatomical areas. Particularly, this invention relates to a topical patch worn on the skin that in a preferred embodiment incorporates two distinct layers, each providing useful features and together providing a novel article and method of improving skin cosmesis. Ease of use, patient comfort and cost effectiveness are provided. The patch is applied to the affected area and preferably worn at least several hours and more preferably worn overnight. The product increases the hydration level of the skin over which it is applied. There is a slight increase to the volume of the local superficial tissue, which serves to tighten the overlying skin and reduce the size and quantity of fine wrinkles at least temporarily. Various active ingredients, such as peptides, vitamin compounds, antioxidants, growth factors, glycolic or alphahydroxy acids, etc., may be incorporated into the present invention thereby providing an enhanced effect or other perceived advantage in the market.
Abstract:
A Tarsus Eyelid Patch and method to hold a superior tarsus in a closed position to heal or treat defects on the eye surface is presented. A perforated mesh device includes a medial edge, a lateral edge, a superior edge, an inferior edge, and an adhesive surface, wherein the perforated mesh device is a non-rigid device. The adhesive surface of the superior edge is configured to attach to a region below an eyebrow and on the superior tarsus forming a convex region and further configured to attach to and conform to the superior tarsus when the superior tarsus is in the closed position forming a concave region when the adhesive surface of the inferior edge is to attached to a lower portion of the superior tarsus when the superior tarsus is in the closed position.

Abstract:
A therapeutic device has a bridge portion adapted for releasable adherence to a patch of skin so as to lift the patch of skin above a sensitive underlying treatment site in reducing discomfort or pain associated with tissue compression at the treatment site. The bridge portion is elevated above the treatment site with an exposed adhesive facing the patch of skin to be lifted and/or stretched outwardly. With the application of pressure to elastically deform the device from its original neutral configuration, the bridge portion is brought into contact with the patch of skin, adhering the skin to the adhesive. When the pressure is removed, the device rebounds and generally reassumes its original configuration with the bridge portion lifting the attached patch of skin.
Abstract:
An ophthalmological device, comprising an eye patch, a photovoltaic, and a battery, wherein said photovoltaic is interconnected to said battery.
Abstract:
A nasal cleaning apparatus is described that may include a nasal cleaning portion and a grip portion. The nasal cleaning portion may include a proximal end portion, a distal end portion, and a front wall extending between the proximal end portion and the distal end portion, and a back wall. The back wall may be attached to the front wall along at least a portion of the periphery of the front wall and/or back wall. An internal space may be at least partially defined between the front wall and the back wall. An opening may be in the proximal end portion. The opening may be in communication with the internal space. The grip portion may include a handle and an extension member. The extension member may extend from a distal end portion of said handle, through the opening of the nasal cleaning portion, and into the internal space of the nasal cleaning portion.
Abstract:
A dressing having a flexible sleeve shaped to accommodate a substantially cylindrical body or plant portion, the sleeve having a lining which is substantially non-adherent to the body or plant part being bandaged and having a peripheral securement means which attaches two peripheral portions to each other without those portions being circumferentially adhered to the sleeve portion.
