Abstract: A method includes receiving user input indicating a selection of a subset of two or more of a plurality of audio layers for media content to be provided to a user, each of the subset of audio layers corresponding to one or more audio sources, receiving second user input indicating volume levels for the two or more audio layers of the plurality of audio layers, capturing, based on the first user input, the two or more audio layers of the plurality of audio layers for a media content item to be provided to the user, and enabling audio playback based on the two or more audio layers of the plurality of audio layers and without including other audio layers of the plurality of audio layers, the audio playback reflecting the volume levels indicated by the second user input. The method further includes causing the media content item to be provided to the user using the audio playback reflecting the indicated volume levels.

The system may also include at least one remote device having a web browser. The camera control inputs may be communicated from the remote device to the at least one telepresence device via an embedded webserver. The video feed output may be communicated to the remote device via a video server configured to transmit real-time video data from the digital camera, over a secure socket connection, to the remote device.

Abstract: A method of delivering a media stream in a network having first and second media servers each capable of delivering segmented media content to a requesting media client. The network provides for HTTP-based delivery of segmented media, and the media client is supported on a client-side device. The method begins by associating the media client with the first media server. As the first server receives from the media client request for media content segments, request times for a given number of the most-recent segments requested are used to generate a prediction, by the first server, of when the media client has transitioned from a start-up or buffering state, to a steady state. In response to a new segment request being received, and upon the first server predicting that the media client has completed a transition to steady state, the new segment request is redirected to the second media server.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described herein for selecting content providers based on performance scores of the respective content providers. The system monitors the performance of a content provider, where the performance is based on the quality of service for receiving a media content item from the content provider. Based on the monitored performance, the system may determine if an adequate performance is not achievable. In response to determining that an adequate performance is not achievable, the system compares the performance of the content provider to the performance of a second content provider and provides, on the user device, the media content item from the second content provider.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for media decoding by a decoder include decoding a first indication indicative of a first conformance point of a coded video sequence. A second indication indicative of a second conformance point of the coded video sequence is decoded. It is determined whether the coded video sequence is decodable by the decoder based on at least one of the first indication and the second indication. The coded video sequence is selectively decoded based on determining whether the decoded video sequence is decodable by the decoder.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting a real-time media stream in a communications network. The method comprises separating an essential part of the media stream from a non-essential part of the media stream in said real-time media stream and transmitting the essential part of the media stream on a first bearer and the non-essential part of the media stream on a second bearer. Priority of the first bearer is higher than priority of the second bearer. The method also comprises performing adaptation of the essential part of the media stream in response to a change of traffic conditions on the second bearer.

Abstract: A computing system may generate a composite video stream from multiple input feeds. The computing system may obtain a surgical video stream and overlay content associated with a surgical procedure. The computing system may determine the overlay region location for overlaying the overlay content by analyzing the content of surgical video stream. For example, based on the content of a frame of the surgical video stream, the computing system may determine an overlay region location in the frame for overlaying the overlay content; based on the content of a subsequent frame of the surgical video stream, the computing system may determine another overlay region location in the subsequent frame for overlaying the overlay content. The composite video stream may be generated based on the overlay region locations determined for different frames of the surgical video stream.

In response to detecting audio and/or video input to a first device, audio and/or video data is recorded and stored in a temporary buffer of the first device.
