Abstract: A combustion control device for a compression autoignition engine includes an engine, a state quantity setting device, a spark plug, a controller, and a sensor. The spark plug receives a control signal from the controller and ignites air-fuel mixture at predetermined ignition timing such that the ignited air-fuel mixture is combusted by flame propagation and then unburned air-fuel mixture in a combustion chamber is combusted by autoignition. The controller outputs a control signal to an injector such that, in a compression stroke, fuel is injected at specific timing at which a line obtained by extending an axis of each hole of the injector overlaps with a specific portion including an opening edge of a cavity in an upper surface of a piston.

Abstract: An object is to provide a precombustion-chamber gas engine in which occurrence of knocking is restricted. The precombustion-chamber gas engine includes: a cylinder; a cylinder head; a piston delimiting a main combustion chamber with the cylinder head; a precombustion-chamber cap delimiting a precombustion chamber inside thereof and including a plurality of nozzle holes through which the precombustion chamber is in communication with the main combustion chamber; an intake valve for opening and closing an intake port that opens on the cylinder head; and an exhaust valve for opening and closing an exhaust port that opens on the cylinder head. In a planar view where the cylinder head is seen from below, there are at least one intake-side nozzle hole and at least one exhaust-side nozzle hole, and a total nozzle-hole area of the at least one intake-side nozzle hole is larger than that of the at least one exhaust-side nozzle hole.

Tumble flow generated during lean burn operation is controlled such that the tumble flow shape changes according to the engine rotation speed between a first tumble shape (usual tumble shape) in which the flow direction of a gas around the sparkplug at the time of ignition is direction from an intake valve side toward an exhaust valve side in a latter half of a compression stroke, and a second tumble shape (ω tumble shape) in which the flow direction of the gas is reversed in the latter half of the compression stroke from the direction from the intake valve side toward the exhaust valve side to the direction from the exhaust valve side toward the intake valve side.

Abstract: When a predetermined restart condition is satisfied after an engine is automatically stopped, whether or not a piston of a stopped-in-compression-stroke cylinder which is in a compression stroke falls within a specific range set at a bottom dead center side of a predetermined upper limit position is determined. When the piston of the stopped-in-compression-stroke cylinder falls within the specific range, a first compression start is executed in which fuel is injected from an injector into the stopped-in-compression-stroke cylinder for the first time and is then self-ignited. In the first compression start, a start timing of a first fuel injection operation with respect to the stopped-in-compression-stroke cylinder is set to be earlier as a stop position of the piston of the cylinder gets closer to the bottom dead center within the specific range.
