摘要:
A fire resistant composition comprises a quantity of cellulosic debris formed to be spread as a ground cover, and an asphalt-containing material mixed with the cellulosic debris. The asphalt-containing material comprises at least 35 wt % of the composition. Preferably, the asphalt-containing material is formed from asphalt roofing shingles. The cellulosic debris may be wood waste or other suitable materials formed into chips or other particles suitable for spreading as a ground cover. A method for forming a fire resistant composition comprised of cellulosic debris and an asphalt-containing material is also disclosed.
摘要:
Used and manufacturing scrap asphalt shingle material is processed into a relatively course material comprising pieces or flakes of a maximum predetermined size, preferably with a relatively low aggregate content. The flakes are finish processed into ground cover and/or erosion control products, with advantage taken of the larger size and low aggregate content. Processing of the flakes include (i) tumbling and simultaneously heating the flakes and a dry powder, (ii) embedding a surface treatment material into the heated flakes, and either (iii) drying the flakes for use as loose ground cover, or (iv) compressing the flakes into a mat product. The flakes may be produced by an initial process that includes (i) shredding the used and scrap shingle material into pieces of a predetermined maximum size, and (ii) separating the shredded material into (a) fine material and (b) course material. In this instance, the course material comprises the larger flakes that are subsequently processed into the ground cover and erosion control products; and the fine material comprising the smaller sized pieces of shredded shingle material and loose aggregate dislodged from the larger sized pieces during the shredding process may be forwarded for finish processing into shaped products adapted to take advantage of the high aggregate content therein.
摘要:
An improved cold patch composition for pavement repair and method of preparation therefore, including recycled asphalt roofing waste, aggregate, and solvent. Recycled asphalt roofing waste provides an excellent, although unexpected, source of asphalt, filler, and fiber, which when used in conjunction with the method of this invention provides compositions having remarkable engineering performance properties quickly upon application, with little cure time. Use of asphalt roofing wastes represents a means of recycling a non-renewable resource and providing an environmentally-safe alternative to landfill disposal of such materials.

In a process for producing asphalt-aggregate composition in which used asphaltic concrete is recycled by being heated and mixed in a rotatable drum into which flame and hot gases of combustion are directed, the improvement comprises introducing virgin aggregate in a hot zone of the drum and directly exposing the aggregate to the flame and/or hot gases of combustion, and introducing particles of asphalt-aggregate composition downstream from the hot drum input end, away from direct exposure to the flame and extremely hot gases, in a cooler temperature zone. An improved apparatus includes means for introducing the aggregate at the input drum end for direct exposure to the flame or hot-test gases, and means for introducing the used and recycled asphalt-aggregate composition in a cooler drum zone.

摘要:
An asphalt composition has a modified asphalt binder. The modified asphalt binder includes an initial binder, an elemental sulfur, a recycled plastic, and a crumb rubber, the crumb rubber including a recycled material. The recycled plastic and the crumb rubber together define a binder modifier. The binder modifier and the initial binder together define an intermediate binder. The elemental sulfur is in an amount of 30 to 50 weight percent, by weight of the modified asphalt binder. The crumb rubber is in an amount of 10 to 20 weight percent, by weight of the intermediate binder.

The present disclosure sets out a method for processing bituminous road surfacing material from a road demolition. The bituminous road surfacing material is in the form of break out material and/or milled material. The following steps are carried out as part of the method: mixing the bituminous road surfacing material with water to form a mixture and adding a peroxide and/or a bicarbonate to the water and/or the mixture, in particular hydrogen peroxide and/or a bicarbonate.

Pavement aging can be reduced by applying to an asphalt-containing pavement a topcoat layer or a surface treatment containing asphalt binder emulsion with sterols.
摘要:
Disclosed are asphalt binder compositions that include an anti-aging additive. The anti-aging additive improves various rheological properties. Methods of making such asphalt binder compositions and pavements are disclosed.
