A weather strip has a molded section and extruded sections. A seal part of the molded section is provided by being connected to an end face of a hollow seal part of the extruded section. Concave cutout portions as a deformation facilitating portion or a stress absorbing portion are respectively formed in regions of the seal part, each of which is located in the vicinity of a connection surface between the seal part and a corresponding one of the extruded sections. The molded section is made of TPO instead of a rubber material. Although stress acting in the direction of extension of the weather strip may be applied thereto, the presence of the concave cutout portions suppresses an occurrence of a situation in which the deformation of the weather strip is relatively liable to occur and in which the stress applied in the direction of extension thereof is concentrated on the connection surface.

The weather strip comprises: an incision slit made on the outer periphery of the sealing portion in the corner section; an incision edge formed on the sealing portion along the incision slit, the incision edge being spread out toward the outer periphery of the corner section with the attachment portion and sealing portion being curved along a corner shape of the part of the automobile; and a molded part formed at least in the vicinity of the incision edge on the back side of the sealing portion in the corner section.

The body portion to be fitted to a sash is constituted by a bottom wall and a pair of side walls so as to have a substantially U-shape in section. The extrusion portions are molded so that the pair of side walls and corresponding to the portions are expanded, while the molded portion is molded so that the body portion corresponding to the portion has a substantially unexpanded U-shape in section. In addition, the shape of the body portion corresponding to the molded portion does not substantially change when the glass run is attached. That is, when the glass run is attached to the sash, it is not necessary to narrow the side walls corresponding to the molded portion. Therefore, the molded portion has no change in angle, curvature radius, circumferential length, and so on, before and after the attachment.

A method of manufacturing a door glass run to be attached along an inner periphery of a door frame of a vehicle door. The method includes forming a door glass run having a main portion of a generally U-shaped cross-section, and seal lips which extend from ends of side walls of the main portion toward the inside thereof by extrusion such that one side wall has a height greater than that of the other side wall, forming first, second and third cutouts in the extruded door glass run from a bottom wall of the main portion to angular parts connecting the bottom wall to the side walls such that the first cutout faces about a center of a corner of the door frame, and the second and third cutouts face about borders between the corner of the door frame and straightly extending parts thereof, bending the door glass run having these cutouts in conformity with the corner of the door frame, and filling these cutouts with molding material to mold a bottom wall and angular parts connecting the bottom wall to side walls therein such that the thickness of the angular part connecting the bottom wall to the side wall having a greater height is increased, as compared to that of a corresponding angular part of the extruded glass run.
