Abstract: A sludge supply device for a single type filter press, wherein a sludge feeding nozzle is fitted in a recess in a side wall of a filter plate, with a filter cloth interposed therebetween, comprising a sludge supply pipe connected to said sludge feeding nozzle and at least two supporting rods carrying said sludge supply pipe and pivotally mounted on a retaining means attached to the side wall of the filter plate, said retaining means, said sludge supply pipe and said at least two supporting rods constituting a parallelogrammatical link mechanism, thereby maintaining said sludge feeding nozzle in a generally constant direction during the movement thereof. This invention facilitates the discharge of cake removed from the filter cloths and ensures smooth travelling of each filter cloth and easy washing thereof.

Abstract: A device for thickening a cryogenic slurry is disclosed. The device comprises a cryogenic slurry flow path, a cryogenic liquid discharge path, and a filter medium between the cryogenic slurry flow path and the cryogenic liquid discharge path. The cryogenic slurry comprises a solid and a cryogenic liquid. The cryogenic slurry is fed into the cryogenic slurry flow path, generally tangential to the filter medium. This causes a portion of the cryogenic liquid to cross the filter medium into the cryogenic liquid discharge path as a cryogenic liquid discharge and the cryogenic slurry to thicken to produce a thickened slurry. The filter medium comprises a cryogenically-stable material such that adsorption of gases is inhibited, deposition of solids is prevented, and temperature-change induced expansion and contraction of the filter medium is optimized.

Abstract: A method for filtering a suspension, the suspension initially being inducted into a filter chamber in a direction which is substantially parallel to at least one filter cloth on a filter cake side of same, the filter chamber being configured substantially lens shaped between two parallel filter plates, when a filter device is closed, whereas when the filter device is open, the filter plates are at such a distance that the at least one filter cloth can be removed from the filter chamber, thereafter a filtrate to permeates the at least one filter cloth to a filtrate side of the filter cloth, wherein a solid content of the suspension is deposited as a filter cake on the filter cake side, and the filtrate subsequently flows out of the filter chamber on the filtrate side. Abstract: A pressure filter includes two continuous mating surfaces movable relative each other and a filter medium capable of being disposed therebetween. A surface, provided for supporting the filter medium, is bounded by and is substantially coplanar with one of the continuous mating surfaces. Abstract: A filter press, for cake or precoat filtration, including one or more filter units, each of which includes slurry frames, filter plates, and support sheets or surfaces. Each of the filter plates is provided with at least one filtrate discharge, and each support sheet or surface, which is disposed on one side of a given filter plate, has associate therewith one of the slurry frames, which has a filling space which is directed toward the caking side of the support sheet or surface, an upper and lower connection for venting and discharge, and a supply conduit for medium which is to be filtered. Associated with each of the slurry frames is a distribution chamber which communicates with the filling space of one of each of the support sheets or surfaces, which are in a sealed state with the slurry frame via a press border. The communication is established via a partition which borders one of the filling spaces and extends parallel to the support sheet or surface. In the vicinity of the frame, the partition is provided with a fluid opening. The supply conduit has an opening into the center of the distribution chamber, with the opening being directed against an adjacent partition surface, from which it is spaced. While providing for uniform caking of the filtering aid, the filtration output is increased considerably. At the same time, it is possible to remove the filtration residue from the filling spaces while the filter unit remains closed.
