Abstract: Motion-detection systems are often used to detect presence of humans. Such motion-detection systems are often based on passive infrared (PIR) sensors. Unfortunately, such detection systems are unable to reliably distinguish between humans and other entities such as animals and moving heat sources. To address this issue, it is proposed to detect a presence of real time clock (RTC) devices in addition to detecting the heat sources to better determine whether a detected entity is a human.

Abstract: According to various aspects, an isochronous channel may include an update slot in which a source device may schedule a transmission to broadcast control information to one or more sink devices. As such, a sink device may initially listen to a periodic advertising stream to receive synchronization information to acquire or re-acquire the isochronous channel and subsequently synchronize to the isochronous channel according to state information that the source device conveys in the update slot.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a magnetic communication method that does not use induction. For example, a transmitter device may generate a magnetic field in a controlled direction and rotate the magnetic field around one or more axes. As such, an angle according to which the magnetic field is rotated at the transmitter device may be used as a variable upon which to encode data transmitted to a receiver device that can sense a direction of the magnetic field along two or more axes. Furthermore, to achieve higher data rates, multiple rotation angles could be used to encode the data transmitted from the transmitter device to the receiver device, which may further improve security because reading and/or generating the modulated magnetic field may be increasingly difficult from any significant distance away from the transmitter device and the receiver device.

Abstract: A method for communication by a scanner is described. The method includes receiving a broadcast message from a broadcasting device in a connectionless mode. The method also includes performing back channel communication with the broadcasting device on a contention basis while maintaining the connectionless mode. The scanner may send a packet to the broadcasting device while maintaining a connectionless relationship with the broadcasting device.
