Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for supporting multiple types of random access occasions. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes receiving, from a base station (BS), an indication of at least two types of random access occasions (ROs) including a first RO type and a second RO type for communicating in a first coverage area of the BS as part of a random access process for the UE to establish a connection with the BS in the first coverage area. The method further includes transmitting, to the BS, a preamble on an RO of one of the first RO type or the second RO type, wherein a preamble format of the preamble is based on whether the RO is of the first RO type or the second RO type.

A wireless device may receive a configuration for a first random access message of a two-step random access channel procedure. Abstract: Aspects are provided to support payloads for msgA transmission in a two-step random access (RACH) procedure by providing a one-to-many mapping arrangement between preambles and physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) resource units (PRUs). A preamble is determined by the UE which is mapped to one or more groups of PRUs to support piggybacking of uplink control information (UCI), frequency hopping on PUSCH, and multiple-slot repetition for msgA transmissions. By piggybacking UCI to a payload in msgA, flexibility may be provided in the selection of MCS and waveform as well as resource allocation for demodulation reference signals (DMRS) and PUSCH in PRUs. Moreover, by allowing a payload to hop to different frequencies on PUSCH during the transmission of msgA, a gain in frequency diversity and interference averaging may be provided, and by enabling a payload to repeat across multiple slots in msgA transmission, coverage enhancement and/or reliability may be increased.

Abstract: Various aspects related to a platooning group in a V2V and/or V2X network are described. In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus maybe a first UE configured to transmit a first message to announce an existence of the platooning group. In one configuration, the first UE may receive, in response to the first message, a second message indicating a request to join the platooning group from a second UE. The first UE may allow or deny the second UE to join the platooning group based on the second message. In another aspect, the apparatus maybe a first UE configured to receive a first message indicating an existence of a platooning group. The first UE may be configured to decode a portion of the first message, and determine whether the platooning group is a private group based on the decoding.

The switching configuration may be associated with switching one or more uplink transmission chains of the UE from or to one or more carriers of the three or more carriers within a time period. The switching configuration may be associated with a UE capability. The switching configuration may permit switching from or to one carrier within the time period associated with the UE capability. The switching configuration may permit switching from or to two carriers within the time period associated with the UE capability. The switching configuration may depend on the UE capability, thereby not causing the uplink transmission switching to degrade a performance of the UE.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) switch between carriers of a group of a carriers during uplink communications in accordance with a mapping. For example, the UE may report its capability to a base station for switching between carriers of the group, where the group includes a supplementary uplink (SUL) carrier and two or more normal uplink (NUL) carriers that are each associated with a different radio frequency band. The base station may indicate for the UE to switch to a subset of carriers of the group corresponding to a combination of radio frequency bands for transmission of an uplink message. The UE may switch to at least one carrier of the subset of carriers in accordance with a mapping that is based on the reported capability and may transmit the uplink message on the at least one carrier.

Abstract: Aspects are provided which improve RLM by allowing a UE to apply a longer monitoring window for out-of-sync determinations before the UE triggers an RLM timer for in-sync determinations. The UE first obtains a reference signal from a base station. The UE then determines multiple groups of consecutive out-of-sync indications in response to the reference signal. For example, the UE may perform looped out-of-sync monitoring, multi-cell or carrier monitoring, or a combination of such monitoring to determine the multiple groups of out-of-sync indications. Afterwards, the UE triggers the RLM timer in response to determining the multiple groups of consecutive out-of-sync indications. As a result, the UE may perform additional out-of-sync monitoring during RLM before proceeding with in-sync monitoring, thus allowing the UE to account for rapid BLER changes (ping-pong effects) that may occur in HAPS systems due to tropospheric turbulence and enabling more accurate RLM determinations and minimal RLF detections.
