Abstract: A ranging session between multiple user equipments (UEs) is initiated using an initial message that includes identifiers (IDs) for the initiating UE and each of one or more responder UEs. Each UE in the ranging session independently determines the timing instances of the signaling for each UE in the ranging session based on the UE IDs in the initial message. Signaling information, such as identifiers for the ranging signals, may likewise be independent determined by each UE based on the UE IDs. The order of UE IDs and number of responder UEs provided in the initial message may also be used to determine the timing instances of signaling and signaling information. The UEs, for example, may use a common multivariable deterministic function with the UE IDs as inputs to each separately derive the timing instance for itself and the other UEs in the ranging session.

Abstract: This disclosure provides methods, devices and systems for a vehicle user equipment (VUE) to obtain extrinsic information about an object or location. The VUE may transmit a request for information about the object or the location to a road side unit (RSU). The RSU may receive the request and determine a set of extrinsic information for the first UE regarding the object or the location based on a set of information from one or more other UEs. The extrinsic information includes information that is not provided by the VUE. The RSU may transmit the set of extrinsic information to the VUE. The VUE may determine whether to accept a feature of the object or the location in the extrinsic information based on the set of extrinsic information and a set of intrinsic information detected by the VUE, The VUE may select an autonomous driving action based on the accepted feature.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a first wireless communication device may determine that a second wireless communication device is to communicate with a third wireless communication device using one or more beams that pass through a target area. The first wireless communication device may obtain information indicating a first object that is approaching the target area and that has a beam blocking size above a threshold. The first wireless communication device may cause the one or more of the second wireless communication device or third wireless communication device to adjust usage of the one or more beams during an expected blockage time in the target area. Abstract: Techniques described herein provide for the efficient usage of an RF channel for PRS transmissions by performing LBT sensing for a group of one or more vehicles (e.g., V2X vehicles) in a predetermined area by using an RSU. The RSU can determine a sequence in which an order for each vehicle in the group to transmit a respective PRS is defined, and provide the sequence to the group. The RSU may further perform the LBT functionality by listening to availability on the RF channel and, when the channel becomes available, the RSU can initiate this sequence by sending an initial PRS. This LBT sensing for a group can provide far more efficient usage of the RF channel than if LBT functionality were performed by each divisional vehicle.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) initiates a positioning session based on ranging in a distributed system of UEs. The positioning session includes a plurality of anchor UEs with known positions that provide information including ranging information and their positions to the initiator UE in post-ranging messages. The initiator UE identifies anchor UEs that provide information that does not significantly contribute to the final position estimate for the initiator UE. The initiator UE, for example, may generate position estimates and associated accuracy levels for different subsets of anchor UEs and may use the accuracy levels to identify a subset of anchor UEs that may be used for positioning in place of the full set of anchor UEs without a significant loss of accuracy. Selected UEs are excluded from providing post-ranging messages in subsequent positioning sessions to reduce signaling overhead and improve efficiency.

Abstract: Disclosed are some examples of techniques for positioning of a user equipment (UE) using positioning reference signal (PRS). One or more units of messages may be communicated between an initiator UE and a responder UE. A unit of message may include a pre-PRS message, a PRS message and a post-PRS message. The pre-PRS message and the post-PRS message may be sent or received using a license spectrum. The PRS message may be sent or received using an unlicensed spectrum. The communication between the initiator UE and the responder UE may be initiated by the initiator UE identifying the responder UE from a plurality of UEs based on positioning properties of the responder UE. The positioning properties of the responder UE may include one or more of a direction, a velocity, a location confidence and a location of the responder UE.

Abstract: Disclosed are some examples of techniques for decentralized and scalable ranging and positioning of distributed devices. For example, an anchor user equipment (UE) can detect, from initiator user equipments (UEs), respective initiator positioning reference signal (PRS) transmissions associated with respective initiator positioning sessions. Based on the initiator PRS transmissions, one or more characteristics of PRS messaging associated with the initiator positioning sessions can be determined. When the one or more characteristics satisfies a criterion or criteria, the anchor UE can broadcast an anchor PRS transmission indicating initiation of an anchor positioning session by the anchor UE.

The first UE may transmit, using a set of transmit antennas in response to the received first PRS, a second PRS. The first UE may receive, from a second UE, a control message indicating time and position information for the first PRS transmitted by the second UE and for the second PRS received at the second UE. The first UE may determine a position of the first UE based on the received control message and composite time and position information for the first PRS received at the first UE and for the second PRS transmitted by the first UE.
