    摘要: A power supply (1) for a load in the form of a PCMCIA card (2) has and onboard GPRS class (10) module (not shown). The module, and therefore card (2), demands a load current iload that has an average value over time and periodic instantaneous peak values (ipeak) that are significantly higher than the average value. Power supply (1) includes a pair of input terminals (3) for connecting with a power source in the form of a regulated power supply (4) that is contained within a personal computer (not shown). Supply (4) supplies a source current iinput that is less than a predetermines current limit specified for the supply and which is less than the peak load current. A pair of output terminals (5) is electrically connected with terminals (3) and card (2). A supercapacitor device in the form of a single supercapacitor (6) is in parallel with terminals (3, 5) for allowing the load to be supplied the peak load current while maintaining the source current at less than the predetermined current limit.

    摘要: A novel package wrapper made of plastic film with a line of package-opening perforations through the film positioned in one face of the package and being overlaid by a piece of plastic tape which seals the perforations, the tape having a dry edge. The perforations and overlying tape are spaced inward from the edges of the package and extend substantially linearly, but have the tape ends terminate short of any package seal so that they are not bound into the seals. In one embodiment the package wrapper is made of air and moisture non-permeable shrink wrap film, and the tear down tape is made of a non-permeable non-shrink plastic which has been processed to exhibit the same shrink characteristics as those of the shrink wrap film, so that when the wrap film is shrunk during packaging the tape shrinks the same amount as the film and does not itself pucker or wrinkle the film. The package is completely sealed but does not require the use of any tool to open it. Package opening is accomplished by grasping the tape dry edge and pulling it toward the line of perforations. The tape peels from the wrapper film until it reaches the perforations, where continued pulling of the tape ruptures the film through the perforations and permits the film to be further torn to open the package. Tapes with several variant configurations are disclosed. Apparatus and methods for making the novel package and wrapper are shown and described.

    摘要: The invention is directed to a powered cable splitter. The splitter is comprised of a motor, a blade, a channel, a clamp to secure the tubing within the channel, and a hand grip for activating the motor. To use the splitter, a user places the cable inside of the channel, secures it with the clamp, and then squeezes the hand grip to activate the motor. The motor causes the blade to spin and cut to a specific depth. Rollers within the channel allow the cable to be moved into position before the tubing is cut, creating a cut of limited depth along a preferred length, and thus splitting the cable without damaging the wires within.
