An active device may be associated with the item. The active device may store a token for communication with a local area network associated with a location. Abstract: Navigable path networks are generated or modified based on attributes of tasks to be performed by autonomous vehicles traveling thereon, attributes of such vehicles, or attributes of the environments in which such networks are provided. The networks include traditional and non-traditional transportation features, and are defined based on prior travel within the environments, including information gathered by such vehicles during such prior travel. The autonomous vehicles are robotic, self-powered units having storage compartments for carrying objects between points of the networks. An optimal route within a navigable path network is selected based on attributes of an autonomous vehicle, a task to be performed by the autonomous vehicle, or the various paths within the network. A navigable path network is updated based on information subsequently learned regarding the environment, including information captured by autonomous vehicles traveling on paths of the network.

Abstract: A customer who visits an online marketplace to view information regarding an item formed from fabric may request and receive instructions for producing a sample of the fabric that mimics the sensations of touch and feel of the fabric. The sample may be produced using an automated fabricator, such as a 3D printer, associated with a client device from which the customer made the request. The instructions may include or describe a digital model of the fabric, customized for the automated fabricator. In particular, the sample may be formed from various plastics or other materials that are accessible to the automated fabricator, and need not be formed from the actual materials that are included in the fabric.

Such an advertisement may be one of a plurality of existing advertisements, or may be prepared in a native format based on the content of the video stream, and may be seamlessly integrated into the video stream with the same or a similar setting to the video stream. A viewer of a video stream may also request one or more advertisements based on the content of the video stream.

Abstract: Autonomous ground vehicles (“AGVs”) containing ordered items travel (e.g., from materials handling facilities, etc.) to pickup areas (e.g., on a street, in a parking lot, inside a store, etc.) where users may retrieve the ordered items from the AGVs. In various configurations, an AGV may have a single storage compartment or may have multiple storage compartments, and multiple AGVs may congregate at a pickup area which may include various facilities/services for the AGVs (e.g., a charging station, a common control station for the AGVs, etc.). Multiple AGVs at a pickup area may be arranged in a particular configuration (e.g., according to a particular order, stacked, etc.), and the configuration may be changed (e.g., when a new AGV arrives and/or when an AGV departs, such as after an ordered item is retrieved from an AGV which then leaves the pickup area to return to a materials handling facility, etc.).

Abstract: Items, such as produce items, may be placed in containers, imaged, weighed, and stored for subsequent retrieval. Images that depict the items and attributes associated with the items may be presented to customers via an interface. Upon receiving an indication that a customer has purchased one or more items via the interface, a container that includes the one or more items is retrieved. The one or more items are removed from the container and packaged for delivery to the customer. The resulting empty container is refilled with new items, which are then imaged, weighed, and stored.

Abstract: An intermediary device may be configured to allow an authorized visitor to access a secure facility (such as a home) on behalf of an owner. The intermediary device may generate an authenticator and provide the authenticator to a service provider, who may then present the authenticator to the intermediary device upon arriving at the facility. The intermediary device may unlock or open, or lock and close, any doors within the facility as necessary in order to grant access to a specific portion of the facility and restrict access to other portions of the facility. The intermediary device may also capture, or cause the capture of, images or other data regarding actions taken by the service provider, and establish a communications channel with the owner for the exchange of information or data regarding such actions, or any events or conditions of the facility.

Such attributes of the imaging data may be determined by any means, and a prediction as to the performance (e.g., one or more metrics) or success of each of the algorithms may be made. One of the algorithms may ultimately be selected based on such predictions, as well as the computing resources that are available for executing the algorithms, and any other relevant constraints.
