Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a wireless device to perform methods to implement mechanisms for performing autonomous and non-autonomous side-link resource management as well as groupcast side-link resource management. A wireless device may perform a method for autonomous (e.g., non-network assisted) side-link resource management, e.g., the wireless device may perform a method to originate a semi-persistent side-link schedule for a side-link resource (e.g., a time domain and/or a frequency domain resource for side-link communications). Additionally, a wireless device may perform a method for groupcast side-link resource management. A network node may perform a method for non-autonomous (e.g., network assisted) side-link resource management, e.g., the network node may perform a method to assist wireless devices to schedule side-link resources.

Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for fast switching between control channels during a radio resource control connection in a wireless communication system. A cellular base station and a wireless device may establish a radio resource control connection. The base station may provide a physical layer indication to the wireless device of a control channel to monitor for scheduling information. The base station may provide scheduling information to the wireless device on the indicated control channel. The wireless device may monitor the indicated control channel for scheduling information based at least in part on the physical layer indication and may receive the scheduling information provided by the base station on the indicated control channel.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a base station to perform a method construct dynamic hierarchical sub-configurations of bandwidth parts (BWPs) for use in a connected mode discontinuous reception (CDRX) communication session with a user equipment (UE) device. The base station may configure a first BWP at a baseband frequency associated with the CDRX communication session as a default BWP, a second BWP with a wider bandwidth than the first BWP as a transmission BWP, and one or more third BWPs as resting BWPs. The transmission BWP and the one or more resting BWPs may be configured to periodically override the default BWP as the active BWP for a predetermined number of CDRX cycles. The transmission BWP may be utilized, when activated to perform data transmission by UE device, and the one or more resting BWPs may be utilized, when activated, for performing channel measurements.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods to dynamically indicate preference for self-contained slots and slot duration by a user equipment device (UE) in communication with a base station (e.g., a gNB) using a 5G NR radio access technology. A UE may determine to send an indication to a gNB indicating a preference for self-contained slots and slot duration for downlink and/or uplink communications utilizing one or more of the physical downlink control channel (PDCCH), the physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), and/or acknowledgement messaging (ACK/NACK) for downlink communications, and utilizing one or more of the physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), the PDCCH, and/or the physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) for uplink communications. The configuration of self-contained slots and slot duration for uplink and/or downlink may be based on one or more of average packet size, average packet rate, traffic type and UE processing capabilities.

Abstract: Mechanisms enabling link-budget-limited (LBL) devices to more effectively perform random access may include: (1) broadcasting a Physical Random Access Channel (PRACH) configuration index (PCI) reserved for LBL devices; (2) configuring LBL devices to use a PCI that is offset from the conventional PCI of current cell; (3) configuring LBL devices to transmit PRACH messages using an alternative set of subframes, different from conventionally-defined subframe set; (4) configuring LBL devices to transmit PRACH messages on odd frames when the conventional PRACH configuration specifies even frames; (5) configuring LBL devices to generate and use extra PRACH preambles that are not used by non-LBL devices; (6) configuring LBL devices to use group B preambles while non-LBL devices are configured to use group A preambles; and (7) boosting power of a random access response message after an Nth random access failure with preamble conforming to an LBL-reserved pattern of preambles.

In addition, the instructions may be based, at least in part, on the recommended beam quality measurement configuration.

Abstract: A hierarchical beamforming structure may help reduce network traffic overhead for transmission of beam indication (information) and enable efficient Transmission Configuration Indication, while facilitating beam tracking between a base station(s) and a mobile device(s) during downlink communications. Downlink control information (DCI) may be expanded to carry/transmit a beam/QCL (quasi co-location) indication for a control resource set (CORESET) for monitoring a next instance of a physical control channel. Error resilient design techniques may be employed to further improve device mobility while increasing the flexibility and reducing the latency for GC-PDCCH/PDCCH beam/QCL indications. For example, the aggregation level for select DCI (e.g. DCI in which the GC-PDCCH/PDCCH beam indication has changed) may be increased, the transmission of such select DCI may be limited to a certain (specified) aggregation level, and in case discontinuous transmission (DTX) is received, the base station may transmit both old and new beam/QCL indications.
